Introduction
The ISGEI 2017 is a major academic event organized by the International Society for Environmental Information Sciences (ISEIS). The ISEIS is a non-profit international organization dedicated to the development of information systems technology for environmental applications. The Commission of GeoEnvironmental Informatics (GEI) is one of the technical commissions of the ISEIS. GEI focuses on improving our capacity to capture, store, and analyze geoenvironmental information for better understanding of the dynamics and the interactions of coupled processes, including physical, biological, geochemical, and anthropogenic processes, which shape the earth surface and its interactions at various scales. The commission also aims to promote the international exchange of knowledge in the fields of Geoenvironmental information system research.
ISGEI 2017 aims to promote the extensive and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas, technologies, scientific findings, and general knowledge in the area of geoenvironmental informatics. The objectives are:
(1)establishing international research network on geoenvironmental informatics;
(2)discussing and identifying international collaborative and focused research subjects;
(3)encouraging joint research postgraduate education programs among universities, research institutes and industry;
(4)promoting collaborations with international organizations, academic and research institutions.
Conference Themes
The conference themes will be focused on, but not limited to, the GEI commission missions:
(1)discovering new methodology and technology for the acquisition of geoenvironmental information, including technologies of remote sensing, in situ and mobile observations, and 3D/4D terrain modelling;
(2)investigating the interactions of physical, biological, geochemical, and anthropogenic processes of earth surface, with focus on the impacts of climate change;
(3)improving the understanding of water and energy cycles in earth environment as well as other ecoregions, with special focus on land-cover and land-use change and distributed model development on ecosystem and environment;
(4)advancing geospatial analysis and geovisualization methods; and
(5)developing education and training programs on geoenvironmental informatics.
Call for Papers
Extended abstracts are invited to submit on-line for the consideration of conference presentations. The abstract should be in English and composed of approximately 2000 words (or 4 single-lined pages) including figures, tables and references.
The extended abstracts will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be included in the conference program as oral presentation.
