On July 31, Beidou-3 global satellite navigation system was officially in operation. It is informed from China Meteorological Observation Center of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) that meteorology is one of the earliest sectors to harness Beidou system. Among them, Beidou sounding system technology has scaled international mainstream technological level, and the Beidou water vapor sounding has been in preliminary operation.
In Beidou sounding, since 2008, China has conducted myriad sounding comparative experiments, and accumulated a raft of new sounding technologies, constantly improving the system. The new type Beidou navigation sounding system of CMA has been applied in observation experiment and yielded pronounced results. The dynamic accuracy of Beidou sounding system of China has reached 0.4℃, 5% and 0.3 m/s in terms of temperature, humidity and wind measurement, which can almost match global cutting-edge sounding system. And the further optimized version of Beidou-3 satellite navigation system can elevate the technological performance of locating and wind measurement of the new type satellite navigation sounding system.
In Beidou water vapor sounding, CMA has completed the construction of 35 framework network baseline stations and meteorological sector data processing centers, and obtained high accuracy and high spatial and temporal resolution quasi real-time troposphere and ionosphere products. All software and hardware of the system are developed by China.
CMA also developed Beidou sea wind and sea wave sounding system, constructed Beidou meteorological early warning dissemination system, and so on. Beidou telecommunication has been widely applied in data transmission of mount torrents and geological hazards meteorological stations of meteorological departments in many localities.(Aug. 5)
