When people try to decide which animal to keep as a pet, the usual choices include dogs, cats, hamsters, fish or more recently, lizards. But one environmentalist has made three cheetahs her family after their pregnant mother was rescued from a farm.
Although said the world is so big that nothing is to be surprised at. But here is a 21-year-old beauty from South Africa with a heartwarming and wonderful story coming our way.Kristen Kerr was raised among lions, cheetahs and other wild animals after she was born at an animal sanctuary in South Africa.
Her father Barry took care of lions and jaguars, so Kerr learned everything she knew about wildlife.
Currently, she looks after 7 cheetahs at an enclosure 30 feet from her home and other rescued animals like mongooses, giraffes, meerkats, and zebras. She sees them every day, and that's the best thing.
Many of you are still wondering how to tell the difference between leopard, cheetah and jaguar, so I would like to introduce them in the simplest form in the following picture.
In fact, you can roughly tell them apart just by remembering the difference in their patterns.
The cheetah has black spots rounded and separated, being completely mottled, and also has black lines that emphasize the eyes and snout, going from the corner of the eye to the corner of the lips.
The leopard marks are less rounded, can overlap creating different shapes and somewhat larger spots and, in addition, on the back and sides have spots of a yellowish brown tone darker than the rest of the coat and surrounded by black.
Let's get back to our point, having been around animals all her life, she opted for home-schooling to be close to them and even left her corporate job in Johannesburg to work full-time at the sanctuary.
She found people were always competing with one another like who has the best car etc. and I just wanted to be back where I belong with the animals.
She believes that the bond between animals and humans is a process of building trust.
"If we step on the bottom line of animals, they will jump fiercely and rub the floor with their feet. " Careful observation made her understand what the animals were trying to say.
If one day I am really hurt by animal, it must be because I have done something wrong.
It was because of this that she was able to lie on top of the animals and sleep without worry, a dream and unreal experience for her.
Kerr has built trust through her interactions with animals, and now she even sleeps with jaguars naturally.
She considers these animals to be a part of her life that she can't let go, and she feels the happiest thing about living with wild animals.
On her reasons for choosing her career, she said: "I hate sitting in an office every day and sitting in front of a computer is not for me. I prefer to feed these big cats and put my hands in the cage and get dirty. I also teach the volunteers about the animals and show them how amazing they really are."Many people think she's Cheetah Whisperer, because half the time she forgets that cheetahs are wild. She thought they were more like the big cats in the house, although that might sound crazy. She thought she could talk to the animals, but she didn't have to say a word. It's all about body language. They read your body language just like you read theirs. They rescued three cheetahs from a farm where the owner had run into financial problems and lost his farm, and one of them was pregnant, so they were raised from birth.
She had these cheetahs as a child and they were like her family and she knew they would protect her as much as she would protect them.
Animals are completely harmless, she lay on the floor with them, kissed their faces, and sometimes even slept in the pens with them.
I think this beautiful woman who grew up around One of Africa's deadliest predators has proven why she is a real-life Dr. Dolittle.
One rule that she stick by is never forcing the animals to be my friend. She show that she is not going to hurt them and slowly getting closer every day to gain their trust.
「It is a surreal experience and I am lucky enough to live it every single day.」 She added.
For Kerr, a place with wildlife is her sanctuary, and on the contrary, is a sanctuary for these animals, which is the best feeling in the world for both of them.Including pics from Internet.
