SARS-CoV-2 is affecting multiple organs such as kidney, not only as a secondary effect of pulmonary damages, but also through direct infections by the virtue of ACE2-binding. Unlike previously known coronaviruses, SARS-CoV-2 is fighting humanity in many battlefields, one of which is nephrology. Of course nephrology is not just a temporary war zone of COVID-19. The kidney is a vital organ which participates in whole-body homeostasis, regulating acid-base balance, electrolyte concentrations, extracellular fluid volume, and blood pressure. Nephrology is an important part of medical training and medical practice, even long after we win the battle against COVID-19. The outbreak has forced us to replace a significant amount of classroom teaching with online learning. Some of us are still getting used to it. How can be maintain a positive attitude towards this new study format? Now, we have Dr. Zhang Bo to enlighten us on taking advantage of online learning, in nephrology and beyond.Dr. Zhang is a senior consultant in the Department of Nephrology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. He received his doctorate from Nanjing University. Since 2009, he has been teaching nephrological part of Internal Medicine and Diagnostics courses in Nanjing Medical University. He is a Younger Committee Member of Nephrology Medicine of Jiangsu Province Medical Association. Dr. Zhang has received numerous awards at national and provincial levels, including the Second Prize of Chinese Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award in 2016.
