Inspirational Quote Of The Day"I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific."'World Diabetes Day' Was On November 14

Diabetes is a disease in which one's body is unable to maintain normal levels of the hormone insulin

Type 1 diabetes is managed with insulin, exercise and dietary changes, while type 2 diabetes can be treated with non-insulin medications, as well as with dietary changes and weight reduction.

Diet for type 1 diabetes includes brown rice, whole wheat, oatmeal, beans and lentils. According to medicinenet.com, sufferers of type 1 diabetes are recommended to avoid sodas, simple carbohydrates and trans fats.

Type 2 diabetics should reduce their body mass, exercise and follow a diet plan tailored for type 2 diabetes.

Carbohydrates with low glycemic load, which comes predominantly from vegetables, should be consumed by type 2 diabetics. Plant sources should be where an individual suffering from type 2 diabetes should eat fats and proteins.

When choosing medications, the effectiveness and side effect profile of each medication, the cost to the patient or health-care system and any underlying health issue must be considered.

Historically Significant.

On this day in 1532, Spanish explorer and conquistador, Francisco Pizarro had trapped Incan emperor, Atahualpa. Having enticed the Incan emperor, Pizarro had his men open fire to a feast that was in the honour of the emperor.

Pizarro had chosen this moment in time to attack Atahualpa because the Incan Empire was in chaos and engulfed in a civil war.

Pizarro and his men had captured Atahualpa, after killing the unarmed Incans close to the emperor. Atahualpa was forced to convert to Christianity, but he was to be killed soon after.

This event had signalled the end of the Inca Empire. Disintegrating at a remarkable rate, European colonisation of South America had filled in for the power vacuum that the Inca Empire had brought about itself.
