2.nothing but意為「不過是，僅僅，只，只有……才」，與nothing other than同義。形式否定，意義肯定。nothing but後接非指人的名詞。

We can seenothing but (/nothing other than) water. 我們只能看見水。
3.none but與nothing but同意，意為「僅僅，只，只有……才」，但none but後接指人的名詞或非指人的名詞均可。
