【解說】At the grand opening of a major sporting event in Jingzhou, Hubei province, at least 37,000 citizens have joined a Chinese square dance, setting a Guinness world record.

【解說】On October 8th, more than 37,000 citizens gather in the ancient city of Jingzhou and stage the largest fitness dance performance in the world.

【解說】Dancers from all walks of life participate in the event. And it's not long before a Guinness certification officer announces the good news.

【解說】Chinese Square dancing is both a fun and a visual spectacle. The moves and the accompanying music combine Chinese and Western traditions - mixing Chinese folk dance with Rumba or Cha-Cha or Three-Step. The majority of square dancers in China are older people, but more and more young people are joining in.
