In the increasingly mature local electronic music scene, more and more live set performers and original electronic musicians have begun to emerge, which marks the next step in the development of Chinese electronic music. The rising of Chinese electronic music is also the facilitator of .TAG as a local electronic music brand. After a slew of international lineups, TAG will hand over the dance floor to three outstanding local musicians who will perform on Friday, October 18.
在第一期ART OF LIVE派對中ASYMMETRIC以他的獨門模組配方帶給.TAG的舞池一劑TECHNO重錘,同時也將現場音樂的力量成功的傳遞給每一位到場的朋友。
在ART OF LIVE的第二期活動中,讓我們把焦點投向同樣在第一期活動中帶來精彩表演的Karmasub、吳卓玲以及活躍在成都電子樂場景中的psycho系製作人/Live表演者——TAIGA(呼斯嘞)。
In the ART OF LIVE party 1.0, ASYMMETRIC brought a TECHNO feast to the .TAG dance floor with his unique module formula, and he also successfully instilled the power of live music into the audience.
In the second edition of ART OF LIVE, let's move on with Karmasub, Wu Zhuoling, who also performed in the first event, along with the psycho producer/Live performer who is extremely active in the Chengdu electronic music scene - TAIGA (Hussian).
KARMASUB
KARMASUB意為「次因果律」是來自於聲音/視覺藝術項目「barranco深谷」中的一個創作代號。KARMASUB在聲音創作上融合了古典主義、無國界主義、環境聲音、電子樂、東方色彩等元素,試圖以後現代的視角搭建聲音景觀。
KARMASUB is a code name from the sound & visual arts collective Barranco. KARMASUB creates sounds with classical, ambient, electronic and oriental elements, seeking to explore postmodern philosophy from the perspective of sound.
吳卓玲以其傳奇般的個人經歷和傑出的才華成為中國獨立音樂界中標誌性的女性藝人之一。
她集民謠唱作人、電子樂團主唱、音樂製作人、翻譯作者、運動員等多重身份於一身,長年活躍於國內外獨立音樂的舞臺上。
With her legendary personal experience and outstanding talent, Wu Zhuoling has become one of the iconic female artists in the independent music scene of China. She combines many roles into one: a singer-songwriter, a musician, the front woman of the livetronic band Wednesday’s Trip and a music producer, who has always been active in performing music live on stage.
Taiga(泰迦),位於西伯利亞葉尼塞河上遊一塊富饒之地,那裡山川相伴、草木為依,河道旁的麋鹿與嫋嫋升起地炊煙形成了一塊神秘之地。由此Taiga(呼斯勒個人電子計劃)於2014年成立,通過豐富的樂隊背景,用時四年深入了解和學習傳統遊牧民族音樂,並意圖找到用音樂對話自然的新方式。
作為製作人,Taiga嘗試追尋對呼麥及薩滿音樂、電子音樂的創新,因成長於多元化背景,長久以來他開始了電子音樂與民族音樂相融合的新試驗。Tagai現場運用一些民族樂器以及獨特的演唱方式並結合電子音樂的表演形式,持續帶給人們一種迷幻自由的心靈感受,描繪著心中所嚮往的神秘的自由之地。
Taiga is located in a fertile land on the upper reaches of the Yenisei River in Siberia. The mountains and rivers are accompanied by grass and trees. The elk next to the river and the chimney smoke form up this mysterious land. The Taiga (Hussler’s Personal Electronics Project) was established in 2014. With his band background, he spent four years to deeply understand and learn traditional nomadic music, and intended to find a new way of dialogue with electronic music.
As a producer, Taiga tries to pursue innovations in Humai and Shaman music and electronic music. Since growing up in a diverse background, he has long started a new experiment of integrating electronic music with national music. Taiga’s use of some national musical instruments and unique singing methods combined with the form of electronic music continues to bring people a psychedelic and free spiritual experience, depicting the mysterious freedom of the heart.

作為電子樂的主要演出形式之一,Live set與DJ set的「播放藝術」有著本質的差異。相對與DJ們對曲目的選擇,Live set的根基深入到了設計聲響、編輯並演奏曲目的層面。從對音色質地的錘鍊研磨、大量編織樂句,到整理素材成曲並現場演繹,整個過程完全依賴於音樂人的技術與靈感,這讓Live set的產出與器樂創作至演出的過程更加接近,而其與傳統器樂的界限則在於非傳統的音樂風格與設備化的樂器配置。
As one of the main forms of electronic music, Live set and DJ set have a fundamental difference in the artform. Compared to the selection of tracks, the foundation of a Live set goes deep into the soundscape designing, editing and playing. From the polishing of the sound texture, the large number of weaving soundscape, to the finishing of the material and the live interpretation, the whole process relies entirely on the technology and inspiration of the artists, which makes the output of Live set actually closer to the process of instrumental creation. The boundary between live set and traditional instrumental performances lies in the selection of non-traditional music style and the instrumental configuration.
對於音樂人而言,設備/樂器的選擇永遠是大家所討論熱門話題。如果說整箱的乙烯基唱盤與快閃記憶體中的音頻文件是DJ們掌控舞池的通用武器,Live表演者的set up則可謂千人千面,複雜的多聲部同步控制意味著強大程序搭建邏輯的必須性。隨著技術的飛速進步,音樂人對於設備的選擇也越發多樣,繁複如表面跳線滿布的合成模組機架,精簡至單單一臺筆記本電腦,都是演奏者們根據自己的音樂風格以及使用習慣所定製的專屬樂器。但無論是精心搭建具有裝置美感的硬體模組魔方還是寄居在電腦中強悍而全面的DAW(Digital Audio Workstation即數字音頻工作站), 在Live set玩家手中只有一個共同目的——製造美妙的音樂現場。
For artists, the choice of equipment/instrument is always a hot topic. If a box of vinyls, a turntable and the audio files in the flash memory are the general weapons that DJs use to shake the dance floor, then Live performers are just far more than these. The skill of complex synchronization means powerful program logic-building. With the rapid advancement of technology, artists have become more diverse in their choice of equipment/devices. Complex models such as synthetic module racks, or even a single laptop, are all up to their musical styles. Some have exclusive instruments customized to their habit. However, whether it is a hardware module with a beautifully designed device or a powerful DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) that resides in the computer, there is only one common purpose in the hands of Live set performers - to create a wonderful music scene.
