The Connecticut Sun are the hottest team in the WNBA and don't show any signs of slowing down.
They'll look to push their season-high winning streak to eight games Friday night against the host Minnesota Lynx.
It's been nearly a month since Connecticut (16-6) lost a game, July 10 at Atlanta to be exact. The Sun last won eight in a row during the 2006 season.
"We know that we can win a championship, we know that we have all the pieces," guard Courtney Williams said as posted on the Sun's official Facebook page. "We're a championship team. We just have to get at it and prove it."
Williams (12.0 points per game) has played well of late, averaging 16.8 points on 27-of-51 shooting in the last four games. She dropped 28 while the Sun shot 46.4 percent during a 94-79 win at New York on Sunday.
It was the second straight road victory for Connecticut, which is 5-5 away from home. This will be the second of a four-game stretch on the road.
"This four-game trip is important," Sun coach Curt Miller said. "(The win at New York) sets the tone."
Connecticut split its first two season meetings with the Lynx, with its victory coming 85-81 at Minnesota on June 14 amid the team's first seven-game winning streak of 2019. Williams has totaled just 19 points in the two games versus Minnesota this season.
The Lynx (11-11) are looking to win back-to-back contests for the first time since a three-game winning streak from July 2-10. Rookie Napheesa Collier had 22 points with 11 rebounds and Sylvia Fowles added 12 with 11 boards as Minnesota used a 15-0 run to beat Atlanta 85-69 on Tuesday and snap a four-game slide.
That contest also marked the 2019 debut of Minnesota and WNBA legend Seimone Augustus, who had eight points and four assists over 21 minutes in her return from offseason knee injury. She also moved into the top 10 on the "W's" all-time scoring list.
"Now, you can add my leadership in there," Augustus, in her 14th season, told the Lynx's official website. "Hopefully, we can put it all together and push forward."
Fowles (14.5 points per game, 9.6 rebounds per game) also recorded the 600th block of her stellar career. She's posted 35 points and 20 rebounds against the Sun this season.
Collier (11.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg) is averaging 17.0 points and 9.7 boards in the last three games.

Still trying to piece together a complete 40-minute game, the Atlanta Dream look to snap an eight-game losing streak Saturday when they open a road trip against the Indiana Fever.
Atlanta (5-18) has the worst record in the WNBA in what has become a lost season as star Angel McCoughtry recovers from a torn ACL. Though the Dream have finally edged ahead of Dallas to no longer be the lowest-scoring team in the league, they are still last in shooting, and that again plagued them in an 85-69 loss to Minnesota on Tuesday night.
Nicki Collen's team shot 33.3 percent for the game and 6 of 25 (24 percent) from 3-point range. Compounding those issues was turning the ball over 18 times and gifting the Lynx 25 points off those miscues.
Despite the poor shooting, the Dream were within three midway through the fourth quarter before the Lynx closed out the game on an 18-5 tear. The loss marked the eighth straight contest Atlanta shot below 40 percent.
"You can compete for a long time shooting 33 percent because our half-court defense was really good," Collen told the Dream's official website. "But when they have numbers in transition, when they're getting offensive rebounds, it still comes down to so many of their points - 21 points on second-chance points, 21 points at the foul line and 25 points off turnovers."
The Dream, whose road swing also ventures west to Las Vegas and Phoenix, have dropped five straight on the road since a 77-66 victory at Seattle on July 5.
Indiana (8-16) was denied a season-high third straight victory Tuesday night, losing 91-78 at Washington. Kelsey Mitchell scored 18 points off the bench and Candice Dupree added 16, but the Fever also struggled to value the basketball, committing 16 turnovers that led to 25 points for the Mystics.
A second-year guard from Ohio State, Mitchell appears to have finally found her niche coming off the bench for Indiana. She has totaled 38 points and hit 8 of 18 from 3-point range in her last two games after enduring a difficult stretch in which she totaled 21 points while shooting 25 percent (8 for 32) in her previous four games combined.
"You get used to something and you're trying to find a way to be effective at what you were used to," Mitchell told The Athletic about the switch. "Everybody says I'm young, everybody says I'm still learning. I just want to find a comfort spot, so when I went from one thing to coming off the bench and getting a lineup change, it was good for the team, but it was different for me."
The Fever have not won three straight at home since May 20-June 3, 2017, and are trying to inch closer to their first 10-win season since going 17-17 in 2016. Indiana snapped an eight-game home losing streak in the most recent matchup between the teams, edging Atlanta 61-59 on July 31 as Erica Wheeler hit a go-ahead layup with 11.9 seconds to play and Teaira McCowan preserved the victory with two blocks in the closing seconds.

The top two contenders for WNBA Rookie of the Year honors have their final showdown of the season Thursday night when Arike Ogunbowale and the Dallas Wings face Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx.
Ogunbowale and Collier emerged from the rookie class as the top two players in the first third of the season by showing the ability to thrive in the different roles asked of them. Ogunbowale, the fifth overall pick, has had to serve as Dallas' primary scorer with Skylar Diggins-Smith sitting out following the birth of her first child.
The Notre Dame grad leads all rookies with 16.4 points per game, which is also good for seventh overall. In addition to being the only rookie to have a 30-point game this year, Ogunbowale has 10 others of at least 20 - with seven of them coming since the All-Star break.
"She's a phenomenal player," Wings coach Brian Agler told the Dallas Morning News after Ogunbowale's 35-point game against the Sparks on Aug. 14. "People can critique on social media, they can do all they want to do, but she is a special player. There's not been many rookies like her in the league that have come in and made an immediate impact."
Ogunbowale has averaged 24.8 over her last four games, but her 20 points Sunday were not enough to lead Dallas (9-18) to a fourth straight win as it lost 78-68 at Connecticut. Allisha Gray matched her career high with 22 points for a second consecutive game, but the Wings got little offensive production beyond their talented backcourt as the rest of the team shot a combined 9 of 30.
Collier went right after Ogunbowale in the draft after a standout career at Connecticut and was the only rookie named to the All-Star team, though she was an injury replacement for A'ja Wilson. The 6-foot-1 forward is asked to be more of a two-way player for the Lynx, especially on the defensive end in the low post.
Her offensive game has gradually come around, and she carries a nine-game streak of reaching double digits into this contest. Collier, who is averaging 12.0 points and 6.4 rebounds, has made no secret about wanting to win rookie honors.
"It was a goal of mine coming in," she said last week. "Something I wanted to strive for coming into the league. It's something I think about in that sense, but not during the game. I'm just trying to do whatever I can to help this team win."
Collier has helped the Lynx (13-14) keep a firm hold on the eighth and final playoff spot as they lead both Indiana and Dallas by four games with seven remaining. She had 16 points and five rebounds Sunday, but it was not enough to prevent Minnesota from its third loss in four games - an 82-74 defeat at Seattle.
Odyssey Sims scored 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting to pace Minnesota, but the Lynx never recovered from a game-opening 11-0 run by the Storm, drawing as close as four points midway through the fourth quarter.
The teams split two meetings in Dallas in June. Ogunbowale scored 15 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter of the most recent meeting, powering the Wings to an 89-86 victory. Collier finished with 11 points and seven rebounds to go with season high-tying totals of five assists and four steals.

A potential inside track to the No. 2 seed and a bye to the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs are at stake Friday night when the Connecticut Sun host the Las Vegas Aces.
Both teams have clinched playoff spots along with the Mystics, who lead the Sun (19-9) by one game and the Aces (18-9) by 1 1/2 games for the top spot. Connecticut has been dominant at home all season, winning 13 of 14 games, which is part of a run dating back to last season in which Curt Miller's team has won 20 of 21 at Mohegan Sun.
The Sun and the Aces have split their previous two meetings, and the round-robin of these three teams has seen Connecticut take two of three from Washington, which has taken two of three from Las Vegas. Connecticut also has not won a playoff game since 2012, losing to Phoenix in each of the last two postseasons, adding to the urgency of potentially gaining home court and a rest from the first two rounds with a win Friday night.
"We're pretty banged up, so it's a lot about finding recovery time - mental and physical - at this point," Miller told ESPN. "We knew we would have a very challenging August.
"We're not perfect; we may not come out with the energy and effort that you need every game. That's been one of our concerns on the road. It's different knowing you have more of a target on your back. But they've embraced that better and understand it more."
Connecticut is trying to sweep a three-game homestand after defeating Dallas 78-68 on Sunday as Jonquel Jones had 16 points and 10 rebounds for her WNBA-leading 14th double-double, while Jasmine Thomas contributed 16 points and nine assists. She also had a 3-point play that triggered a game-breaking 9-0 spurt in the fourth quarter to power the Sun to their seventh straight home win.
"We had to understand that's a big responsibility, and it takes even more effort," Jones said about being one of the league's frontrunners. "It takes everyone being a little more locked in. We're a playoff team, but it's time to take the next step."
Las Vegas is looking to match a season high with a fifth straight victory as it begins a three-game road swing. Liz Cambage continued her sizzling stretch of play with 19 points and 15 rebounds for her fifth consecutive double-double Tuesday night as the Aces downed the Phoenix 84-79 in overtime.
A'ja Wilson added nine of her 19 points in overtime, showing no ill-effects in her second game back after missing eight full games and most of a ninth with a sprained ankle. The All-Star has scored 44 points in her two games and shook off missing 12 of her first 15 shots versus Phoenix to impact the extra period.
"When you're an offensive person, when you miss shots, you get (angry)," Wilson told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "The fact that my teammates still trusted me with the basketball is something I take a lot of pride. I knew I had to execute the best way that I could."
Cambage has averaged 21.8 points and 11.6 rebounds during her five-game streak of double-doubles and will square off with an All-Star center for the second straight game after battling Brittney Griner. Cambage got the better of Jones in Las Vegas' 89-81 win at home Aug. 11, scoring 10 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter and pulling down 12 rebounds while helping limit Thomas to eight points and 12
