2.18 Make Our Seas Come BLUE Eco-arts Parade,
Talk and Jazz for GREEN Music Concert
ECF: 2016-2017 HK EcoCinema Festival
Make Our Seas Come BLUE 藍海生態藝術巡遊,屆時還有講座和 Jazz for Green 音樂會及行為藝術表演!
On 2017 February 18, 1pm - 3:30pm, various members and representatives of the Environmental groups and cultural-artistic organizations from Shenzhen and Hong Kong, together with two Hong Kong artists, over a hundred of Hong Kong Secondary and Primary School students, teachers, student parents and HK EcoCinema Festivalcommittee members will all participate possibly the first Hong Kong Eco-arts Parade--Make Our Seas Come Blue in Central, Hong Kong.
The route of the artistic parade will start at Central Statue Square, crossing along the Central harbor front before ending at the Hong Kong Maritime museum. Ecological Talk and Jazz for GREEN music concert will be held right after the parade. School teachers and students from Five Partner Schools gathered in Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College will share their teaching and learning experience as tutorial classes during the parade.
Make Our Seas Come BLUE,為下一代能繼續享受海洋豐富資源,留下美麗藍海。
The Eco-artworks of the students in the Hong Kong Eco -arts Parade--Make Our Seas Come Blue were inspired and created with the guidance of Eco -arts teachers Mr. Ricky Yeung and Ms. Carissa Welton. Apart from the multi-media artistic creation by the Hong Kong Artists Monique YIM and Rik YU, most artworks were the learning results from the students who joined our eco-arts education programme 「Artist-in-school Eco-arts training workshops」 for 5 sessions in total 10 hours.
In order to express our concerns for the ocean conservation and sea wastes during the Parade, participants will prepare different slogans for exhibition display, hoping to Make our Seas Come Blue, and raising concerns over the sustainability of the plentiful Ocean resources and beautiful blue sea for our future generations.

Work of Two HK Performing Artist:
Work of YU Wing Kei, Rik
# YU Wing Kei, Rik
Title: Blackitsch Rubbish Funeral Fish
Description: As one might know Merfolk borns from the bubbles from the sea, what will it be if it comes from a sea of rubbish? and where will it goes?
# Monique YIM
Name: Hidden Neighbor
Description: Actions, body, and materials work together to create imagery while symbols convey implications in a poetic way. In Hong Kong, plastic bag ranks the first among marine debris while fishing gear ranks the second. Humans are being selfish and irresponsible to pollute the ocean and to destroy the ecosystem of marine life by leaving unwanted substances like plastic bags and fishing gear in the ocean. Rather than death, this also made millions hidden and innocent creatures into incredibly alive bodies and souls. Using the theme of biodiversity, the artist wears white shirt, uses materials including plastic bags, string, black powder, sand, water, white paper, plants... and even adds texts to make herself one of those marine animals suffering from human's activities. More than using the interaction between the ideology and symbols, she will also try to interact with the audience with hand palm painting and sand painting. The artist meanwhile invited a creative writer, Wiency Wong, to collaborate with her by created a poem.
"Grow up! Grow up and live with a soul as if we have a choice.
Outside underwater city, you cannot hear my voice.
All the way to other side, winds are scratching golden sands.
My life is different from yours but we’re sharing the same land.
With families, I sometimes visit those stunning corals-
Reds, greens, yellows, pinks, purple-blues, and then blues for sorrow.
Earlier it was home, it was my only territory,
And private underground where I breathe in and out freely.
A reminder to us living with a lung or a gill:
To avoid suffocating we better learn self-rescue.
Sound waves from boat engines entertain me and my offspring.
Our eyes, ears, flippers and fins begin dancing then cramping.
For now, I can only swim towards the blind horizon.
Polyethylene, copper, oil as supplementation.
Without solace I am satisfied and I am alive!
Gone are solar power and oxygen, can we survive?"
