在鏡頭閃光燈的照耀下，塔拉•帕爾默-湯姆金森曾屢屢躋身20世紀90年代的電視屏幕和報紙頭條，事實上，她一直生活在公眾的目光之下。但對於一家關愛自閉症兒童的小型公益組織來說，塔拉其實只是一位會為他們彈奏鋼琴的女士，是好心腸的贊助人，是他們的朋友。
Catapulted onto TV screens and front pages in the 1990s in a blaze of flashguns, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has actually lived her life in the public eye. But for a small children's autism charity she was only "the lady that played the piano", their kind-hearted patron, and their friend.
魯斯•格萊茵-歐文是「藍天自閉症關懷項目」的創始人和經營主管，她告訴媒體：「這兒的孩子們都喜歡塔拉，他們最適合判斷一個人品性的好壞。」
Ruth Glynne-Owen, Blue Sky Autism Project's founder and chief executive, told the media, "The children there all loved her and they're the best judge of character."
2014年，當這家公益組織成立四周年之時，一位特殊的嘉賓造訪了「藍天自閉症關懷項目」的基地。塔拉置身於一大群興奮的孩子之中，開始用一架小小的電子琴為他們彈奏樂曲。格萊茵-歐文提到，塔拉在演奏的時候甚至連一個舞臺都沒有，並且只能用磁帶伴奏，但她還是彈奏得很好。
In 2014, it was the charity's fourth birthday party and a special guest had arrived at their base. Perched among a throng of excited youngsters, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson started to play for the children on a small keyboard. "There was no stand and it was held together by tape and she still played it well," Glynne-Owen said.
早在2013年，當這家致力於為學齡前自閉症兒童提供童年早期幹預服務的公益組織聯繫上塔拉時，這位明星立刻非常熱切地提供了自己的支持和援助。
The star was immediately keen to offer her support and assistance when the charity, which is dedicated to providing early childhood intervention for pre-school children with autism spectrum disorders, approached her in 2013.
格萊茵-歐文說：「當我第一次見到她時，我們一起喝了茶，當時我非常緊張。我給她帶了一隻小泰迪熊，這份禮物深深感動了她。當時正好是她人生中最好的時候，我想她只是想為公益慈善做一些事情。」
Glynne-Owen said: "When I first met her, we had a cup of tea together and I was very nervous. I brought her a little teddy bear and she was very incredibly touched by that. It was the right time in her life, and I think she just wanted to do something for a charity."
格萊茵-歐文說能夠看到塔拉非常個人化的一面是自己的「特殊榮幸」。「塔拉私底下非常支持我的工作，她成為了我的好朋友。」她說，「她幫助我們在《你好！》雜誌上出現了兩次，這對於我們來說已經是非常巨大的成就了。」
Glynne-Owen said it was a "privilege" to see Palmer-Tomkinson's private side. "Tara was personally very supportive to me, she became a very good friend. She got us in Hello! Magazine twice, which for us was a pretty massive achievement," she said.

2月8日，塔拉在她倫敦的寓所中逝世。去年她曾因良性腦瘤接受過一段時間的治療。「這是一個悲劇，太令人悲傷了。」格萊茵-歐文說，「她還那麼年輕。」
Palmer-Tomkinson was found dead at her flat in London on February 8th. She had received treatment in 2016 for a non-malignant brain tumor. "It's just tragic, it's really, really sad," Glynne-Owen said. "She was just too young."
「雖然總有一些流言蜚語圍繞著她，但我認為，最重要的是讓大家意識到她其實是一個非常好心、非常真誠的人。我們和她一起度過了非常美好的時光。有一些孩子現在已經長大了，但他們一直記得那位為他們彈鋼琴的女士。」
"I think it's most important for people to realize that, there were rumors around about her but she was actually a very kind-hearted person, a very genuine person. We had really wonderful experiences with her. Some of the children are older now but they always remember the lady who played the piano."
