'Doggy Police In New York'
You might be thinking: 『How can dogs be police?』 And you are right, real dogs are not intelligent enough to be police of their own, but the Spot robot dog can.
To be precise, it is not that Spot’s AI has the intelligence of humans, because it can only do simple work by it self for now, and will be remote-controlled in more complicated situations.
The police calls it Digdog, and says that 「This dog is going to save lives, protect people, protect the police, that is our goal.」
This 70-pound robot dog is still in the testing period, and an do two-way communication, has search lights, cameras, and the ability to do many things like opening doors and climbing stairs.
Spot is used in situations where the lives of police officers might be endangered, like bomb disassembling and detection.
Last October, the Police Department of Massachusetts used a Spot to find a gunman who lost his marbles in an argument while parking in Brooklyn and then locked himself inside a building.
In a virtual art museum, there was a Spot with a .68 caliber paintball gun tied to its back. The museum allowed people to control Spot to two minutes at a time and then hand over the control power to somebody else that was randomly picked.
The average muzzle kinetic energy of paintball guns reaches a height of 93 joules, exceeding the specified standard of kinetic energy that leads to human injury, 78 joules.
Boston Dynamics expresses deep concern about this, because it says that Spot cannot be used for anything that can harm humans, and that it is provocative use of Spot.
Soon after, this 「art project」 declared its end.
I personally am against Spot being used for brutality of to injure humans, but since it was invented, it will somehow manage to be used for evil, this is just the order of things in the human world.
