In 2005, China Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. established Huawei (Latvia) Technology Company in Latvia. In 2013, Guangdong Tongyu Communication Co., Ltd. invested and set up a factory in Latvia.
In 2019 China’s genome research company BGI Group invested EUR 15 million in a gene sequencing center in Riga. Such international companies as Ikea, Cognizant, Röchling, Cytec, Cabot and others also have chosen Latvia as their investment destination.

The Latvian government is in regular and direct contact with foreign investors via the Foreign Investors Council.
An investment attraction process called POLARIS Process, was developed by the government to improve the quality of services offered to investors.
POLARIS Process ensures the coordinated activity of ministries, local governments, and state institutions for the successful implementation of strategically important domestic and foreign investment projects. The private sector, universities and research institutions are also involved in this process.
The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) provides a one-stop-shop assistance to foreign investors at no cost.
