By sticking to the three principles of 「integrating hi-tech achievements transaction with venture capital investment, on-the-spot trade with on-line trade, hi-tech achievements trade with hi-tech products exhibition」, the 2nd China Hi-tech Fair will be a large and efficient state-level event with high standard and wide international representation. In the field of hi-tech trade, the export of IT products will be focused on, and in the field of technology transfer, further studies will be carried out on how to develop the operating mechanism of know-how market and venture capital investment. Measures will be taken to attract delegations from related departments in central government, domestic provinces and municipalities, universities and R&D institutes from home and abroad, and overseas investment institutions and enterprises, especially multinational corporations.
The 2nd China Hi-tech Fair will mainly include exhibition & transfer of technological achievements, exhibition of hi-tech products and hi-tech forum.
The exhibition & transfer of technological achievements will consist of domestic exhibition area, overseas exhibition area and exhibition and negotiation area for investors and intermediaries.
The exhibition of hi-tech products will feature three topics: COMNET, biotechnology and new material.
The hi-tech forum will include selected theme lectures and technical seminar emphasizing operational practices. IT industry in 21st century, hi-tech start-up investment and bioengineering technology in 21st century will be the three themes for the lectures.
Compared with the first one, the 2nd China Hi-tech Fair will have its own characteristics:
l In order to further emphasize hi-tech results trading, specialized
negotiation areas are set up for one-to-one commercial negotiations, high-tech achievements auctions will be held, and various forms will be adopted to promote conclusion of the business.
One-to-one negotiations are aiming at bettering mutual understanding between technology sellers and buyers (project-holders and investors) in order to help both sides to conclude a transaction.
The hi-tech results auctions are aiming at helping realize the real values of high-tech results through promoting fair and competitive buying. Meanwhile, laws will protect the interests of intermediaries. The auctions will feature three specific fields: medicine, new materials and electronics information.

China Hi-tech Achievements Trading Center, the recently built standing body of hi-tech fair, covers an area of 1200m2. It helps guarantee the stable source of project propositions and investments, organize special evaluation and consultation institutions, and provide one-stop service for technology trading. Based on the on-line trading system, the Fair will recommend potential projects to investors; enhance the function as an intermediary of investment and financing by setting up alliance between hi-tech industry and venture capital institutions.

The huge success of the first China Hi-tech Fair has attracted positive responses both inside and outside China. More countries, multinational corporations, foreign investors and senior lecturers are expected to participate in the 2nd China Hi-tech Fair.
Exhibition of hi-tech products will invite leading multinationals and top domestic companies especially top Internet companies from all over the world for participation. The 2nd China Hi-tech Fair will still have a high-level and high-standard hi-tech forum. The hi-tech forum will provide a platform not only for Nobel Prize winners and CEOs of leading international companies to share their expertise with the audience, but also for the promising young people specialized in certain fields to seek consensus and investment for their hi-tech results. So far, several celebrities have confirmed their participation in the 2nd China Hi-tech Fair, including Mr. Ferid Murad, a Nobel medical prizewinner, Mr. John Wall, President of NASDAQ, Mr. Gary Coull, chairman of Lyons Securities, Mr. Folke Ahlback, senior Vice President of Nokia, a VP of Intel, Mr. John Killmer, president of Monsanto Company, Mr. Zhang Ruimin, President of Hai』er Group, Professor Zhang Weiying, well-known economist and deputy chief of Guanghua School of Management, Beijing University Mr. Li Dongsheng or Ms. Wu Shihong, senior executives of TCL, Mr. Hou Yunde, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Preparatory Work Being Well Under WayAfter the completion of the expansion project, which is aimed at meeting the increasing needs of the exhibitors, the Exhibition Hall occupies an area of 36,000 M2 . Thanks to the tremendous success of the first China Hi-Tech Fair and the fruitful promotion of the second one, much more trade delegations both from home and abroad are showing their interests in the coming Fair.
Therefore, despite the expansion, the Exhibition Center still fails to meet the increasing demand for exhibition booths. In fact, delegations from domestic provinces and cities, from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and from overseas as well have expressed a wish to have their exhibition area doubled, tripled and even 8-folded respectively. Currently, the organizing office of the Fair is working hard aiming to meet the various challenges.
lThe Exhibition Booth Being Insufficient for Domestic Delegations
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Industry, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Agriculture, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, etc. are responsible for the organizing of the Fair as well as picking those technological achievements representing the state level. All provinces and cities are actively preparing for the exhibition. Provinces and autonomous regions like Chongqing, Henan, Guangxi, Yunnan,Gansu have held mobilization meetings at provincial level. For participation in the Fair, Gansu Province and Yunnan Province also set up an organizing committee comprised of the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation, Science and Technology Department, Finance Department at the provincial level. Till now, 31 provinces (regions) and cities, 5 cities directly under the State Council and over 20 colleges and universities have made reservation for exhibition booths with larger or even doubled space.
l Overseas Investors and Government Delegation Taking an Active
Approach to the 2nd China Hi-tech Fair
Governments of 11 countries and regions including German, Britain, Italy, Belgium, Australia and Russia have reserved trade booths and are organizing delegation to the Fair. Prestigious enterprises from the United States, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden and Austria, from HongKong, Macao and Taiwan have also reserved trade booths and are planning to visit the Fair. Apart from that, upwards of 300 technological projects of overseas college students will be either on the exhibition or for transaction. About 300 foreign investors from Canada, Australia, France, etc. have expressed their desires to participate in the 2nd Hi-Tech Fair. Other nations like Britain and the United States will also organize delegations of investors to the Fair.
l The IT Exhibition Being Extremely Popular
As for the professional exhibition booths, 「COMNET」 receives great popularization. Enterprises in the IT sector from the United States, Britain, German, Japan, Korea, Canada as well as HongKong, Macao, and Taiwan will pay their visits to the Fair. Many world-famous Internet firms along with their CEOs have expressed their desires to visit the Fair. Some of these firms decided to apply for the exhibition booths or come over to seek consultancy first. A large number of multinational corporations and renowned enterprises at home have made reservation for exhibition booths. The exhibition area demanded is 160 percent of that of the exhibition center’s total.
