大家聽這首歌時有沒有產生這樣的疑問呢：為什麼這首歌裡，拉雪橇的不是reindeer，而是horse呢？為什麼坐在雪橇上的不是聖誕老人呢？
其實呀是因為，最開始，這首歌並不是一首聖誕歌！它是James Pierpont在1857年為感恩節創作的歌。所以歌中，拉雪橇的不是reindeer，乘雪橇的也不是Santa。
作者的學生們首次合唱這首歌是在聖誕節，而雪橇剛好是聖誕老人的交通工具，這首歌就慢慢變成聖誕歌了。
