多數人對fit這個詞還是比較熟悉的，最初的學習都是認為fit是動詞「適合」的意思，其實fit像很多英語詞彙一樣，存在多重的含義及用法，從構詞法上講它是轉換詞，這裡用思維導圖列出了fit的三種詞性及用法，下面我們就來全面地學習一下「fit」這個單詞：
一、做動詞
1. vt.做及物動詞，表示「適合，勝任，合身等」。表示適合時，主要指尺寸、大小、形狀等方面的適合。通常的表達是sth. fits sb.,如：
This coat doesn’t fit me. 這件大衣我穿不合身。
Some training will fit them for the job.
經過一些訓練他們就會勝任工作。
I can't find clothes to fit me.

2. vi.不及物動詞,表示「適合，吻合」。
Try the new key and see if it fits.

The shoes doesn’t fit well. 這鞋不合腳。
3. 與on，out等搭配，表示試穿，裝備等。
Can I fit this suit on? 我可以試穿這件衣服嗎？

二、作形容詞
1. 與系動詞連用，表示「適合的，恰當的」等，常與for連用。
He isn’t fit for his work. 他不適合做這項工作。
This is not a fit place for you to live.
這個地方不適合你居住。
The food isn’t fit to eat. 這食物不好吃。
It’s fit that he should say so. 他那樣說是恰當的。
2. 和feel或keep等連用，表示「精神極好，保持健康等」。
Though he is over 70 years old, he feels fit.
儘管他70多歲，但精神頭極好。
She tries to keep fit by jogging every day.
她每天慢跑以保持健康。
I feel really fighting fit (= very healthy and full of energy) .
我覺得十分健康，精力充沛。
I hope you are keeping fit. 我希望你能保持健康。
3. 口語中常用作狀語，表示「就要，幾乎」。
She cried fit to break her heart. 她哭得死去活來
They went on working till they were fit to drop.
他們繼續工作，幾乎要累倒。
三、用作名詞
1. 前面可以加不定冠詞和形容詞，表示「合身，合身的衣服」。
Fit is even more important than color. 合身比顏色更重要。
The coat is a good fit. 這件大衣很合身。
2. 表示突然爆發或發病等。
When he made a face, the others burst into a fit of laughter.
他做個鬼臉，大家一陣大笑。

3. 口語中常和give或have連用表示「大吃一驚，大發脾氣」。
