當地時間8月18日，美國總統川普再次反對郵寄選票，並稱大規模郵寄選票可能導致美國大選「再來一次」（They'll have to do it again）。
川普直言：要是寄給阿貓、阿狗、死人怎麼辦？
你必須保證能正確投票。你不能把數百萬張選票到處郵寄，寄給死人、寄給狗、寄給貓......這是一件嚴肅的事，不是一場遊戲，你必須確保其正確性。
You have to get voting — voting right. You can't have millions and millions of ballots sentall over the place — sent to people that are dead; sent to dogs, cats; sent to everyone.I mean, this is a serious situation. This isn’t games. And youhave to get it right.
這已經不是川普第一次為這件事情焦慮了。近日，在接受福克斯新聞臺(Fox News)節目採訪時，川普怒問：「數以千萬計的選票被郵寄給每個人和他們的狗，狗將得到選票，好嗎？」
我必須要說，如果大規模郵寄選票......數以千萬計的選票被郵寄給每個人和他們的狗，狗將得到選票，好嗎？已經死了25年的人會得到選票，你看看會發生什麼。那將永遠不會是公平的選舉。

據路透社報導，雖然沒有證據但川普一再表明，如果大規模改用郵寄投票（大多數州都沒有提議這樣做）將導致在11月3日他與目前在民意調查中大幅領先的民主黨競選者拜登的選舉中出現舞弊現象。
Trump has said repeatedly and withoutevidence that a shift to universal mail-in voting - something most stateshave not proposed doing - will lead to fraud in the Nov. 3 election, when hefaces Democratic challenger Joe Biden who currently holds a substantial lead inpublic opinion polls.
外媒報導稱，川普無權重新安排選舉，在美國施行選舉制度的200多年歷史中，即使是在內戰、大蕭條和兩次世界大戰期間，都從未出現過全國大選「重演」的局面。
Trump does not have the authority toreschedule an election. A national election "re-do" has neveroccurred in the more than 200 years the US has held elections, includingduring the Civil War, the Great Depression and two world wars.
據悉，由於新冠疫情仍在美國肆虐或有多達8000萬民眾將選擇郵寄選票的方式參加11月美國大選投票。統計郵寄選票的時間比當面統計更長，因此有選舉專家擔心大選結果可能無法在11月3日出爐。
