April 1st is a day on which ，in some countries ， people try to play tricks on others .If one succeeds in tricking some body ， one laughs and says ， 'April Fool ！' and then the person who has ben tricked usually laughs too .
譯文：4月1日這天，在很多國家，人們都想方設法捉弄別人。如果捉弄別人達到目的，那麼他就會大笑著說：「今天是愚人節！」接著 被捉弄的人往往也會大笑起來。
One April 1st ， a country bus was going along a winding road when it slowed down and stopped . The driver anxiously turned switches and pressed buttons ， but noting happened .
譯文：在某個4月1日，一輛越野客車正沿著彎彎曲曲的道路開著，突然慢下來不走了。司機著急地轉動著旋鈕，按下按鈕，但一點也不管用。
Then he turned to the passengers with a worried look on his face and said ， 'This poor bus is getting old . It is not going as well as it used to . There's only one thing to do if we want to get home today . I shall count three ， and on the word 'three',I want you all to lean forward suddenly as hard as you can .
譯文：後來司機轉身愁容滿面地對乘客說：「這糟糕的車已經老了，跑起來不如當年了。如果我們想今天到家，只有一個辦法。我數三，當我數到『三』時，希望你們都盡最大努力突然向前靠。」
That should get the bus started again ， but if it doesn't ， I am afraid there is noting else I can do . Now ， all of you lean back as far as you can in your seats and get ready .'
譯文：「這樣，應該能把車重新發動，但假若發動不了，恐怕我就再沒有辦法了。好啦，你們大家都在各位的座位上儘量向後靠，做好準備。」
The passenger all abediently pressed back against their seats and waited anxiously .
譯文：乘客們都照他的辦，向後緊靠他們的座位，並著急地等他的口令。
Then the driver turned to his front and asked ， 'Are you ready ？'
譯文：這時司機才轉身向前，並問：「準備好了嗎？」
The passengers hardly had enough breath to answer ， 'Yes .'
譯文：乘客們幾乎是呼出最後一口氣回答：「好了。」
'One ， Two ， Three ！' counted the driver . The passengers all swung forward suddenly -- and the bus started up at a great rate .
譯文：「一，二，三！」司機數著數。 乘客們都猛然向前撲來--客車迅速地發動起來了。
The passengers breathed more easily and began to smile with relief . But their smiles turned to surprised and then delighted laughter when the driver merrily ， 'April Fool ！'
譯文：乘客們鬆了一口氣，開始露出寬慰的笑容。但是當司機快活地喊著「今天是愚人節」時，乘客們的微笑變成先驚奇、後高興地大笑了。
