聽聞桃田賢鬥遭遇車禍，李宗偉祝福車禍的日本男單世界第一的桃田賢鬥早日康復。
李宗偉接受《星洲體育》詢問時表示，他已知道這個消息，他也在關心和了解桃田的傷勢情況。
李宗偉說：「我希望他們沒有事，快點康復。」
除了桃田，另幾名在這起車禍中受傷的包括了日本隊職員平山優與森本，以及世界羽聯的英國職員威廉。不過，印裔司機巴衛卻不幸當場身亡。

大馬羽協對今晨發生的事故表示深切的沉痛。
司機N Bavan 不幸去世，隨行四位乘客：
選手 桃田賢鬥: muliple laceration wounds over the face, right maxillary sinus and nasal bone fracture 面部多處撕裂傷，右上頜竇及鼻骨骨折。
教練 平山憂: muliple laceration wounds over right shin 右小腿多處撕裂傷。
體能師 森本哲史: cerebral concussion and closed frature 腦震蕩及閉鎖性骨折。
鷹眼操作員 威廉·託馬斯: laceration wound over forehand and lower limbs 前臂和下肢撕裂傷。
大馬羽協將協助與當地醫院密切關注並確保傷者接受最好的治療。
