如今，棒球在美國已是一項完全實現融合的體育運動，各種族裔與背景的球員平等地參與其中。不過，為了進一步糾正過去的錯誤，美國職業棒球大聯盟（MLB）上周給予7個黑人職業棒球聯盟「大聯盟」（Major League）的地位。這7個聯盟運營的年代在1920年到1948年之間，當時的棒球運動仍存在種族隔離。美國職業棒球大聯盟認為，這一決定意味著當時大約3400名黑人聯盟的球員被正式認定為大聯盟球員，他們的數據和記錄也成為大聯盟歷史的一部分。

「我們所有熱愛棒球的人長久以來都知道，雖然面對不公，黑人聯盟仍湧現了許多這項運動中最優秀的球員，並為棒球帶來創新和勝利，」美國職業棒球大聯盟主席羅伯·曼弗瑞（Rob Manfred）在一份聲明中表示，「我們很感謝現在黑人聯盟球員得以實至名歸，以大聯盟球員的身份成為官方歷史記錄的一部分。」

Today, baseball in the U.S. is a fully integrated sport, where players of all races and backgrounds play together as equals. However, in a further step to right the wrongs of the past, Major League Baseball (MLB) last week bestowed Major League status upon seven professional Negro Leagues that operated between 1920 and 1948, when the sport was still segregated by race. According to MLB, the decision means that the approximately 3,400 players of the Negro Leagues during this time period are officially considered Major Leaguers, with their stats and records becoming a part of Major League history.

「All of us who love baseball have long known that the Negro Leagues produced many of our game’s best players, innovations and triumphs against a backdrop of injustice,」 MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. 「We are now grateful to count the players of the Negro Leagues where they belong: as Major Leaguers within the official historical record.」
