人生總是在路上，用英語來說，就是on the road；同時，人生也總是在各種啟程的路上，用英語來說，就是take the road。
不管是on the road還是take the road，它們都有其他相似的詞組，而這些詞組總會有其特別的意思。
先看一下，on the road和in the road，兩個詞組只差一個介詞，它們有什麼區別呢？
1.on the road 在路上
這個詞就像文章開頭說的，主要表示在到達某個目的地前的路程中。
After two days on the road, they reached the coast.
經過了兩天的路程，它們到達了海邊。
2.in the road 在路面上
和上面on the road不一樣，in the road主要強調「事物在路面上」，有可能表達這事物阻礙到交通了。
What were they doing in the road?
他們在路面上幹什麼呀？
接下來，講一下take the road，與此相似的是take the high road，多一次high，又是表達什麼意思呢？
3.take （to） the road 起身，啟程
take （to） the road，一般用於表示「路程的開始，旅程的開始」。
After a short visit, they took to the road again.
短暫的拜訪之後，他們再次踏上了旅程。
4.take the high road 堂堂正正的，道德得
take the high road，可能會有一些小白誤會成「開上高速路」的意思。然而並不是這個意思，take the high road，主要表示「做事時，會選擇有道德，堂堂正正的方式」。
He decided to take the high road and say he was sorry.
他決定要堂堂正正地，並且說了聲抱歉。
5.one for the road 餞行酒
最後再說一個詞組，one for the road，這裡的one，表示「喝酒」，千萬不要以為這是在鼓勵「酒後駕駛」，這裡的酒，指的是送行的「餞行酒」。
It's past 11 o'clock and they ask for one for the road.
時間已經過了晚上11點，他們想要喝一杯餞行酒。
