四級詞彙講解:
本句的主幹是there is the...apology。兩個which分別引導兩個定語從句，其中，第一個定語從句中又有that引導的定語從句，修飾act;第二個定語從句中又有Who引導的定語從句，修飾person。
necessity意為「必要性;需要;必然;必需品」。如:
Necessity is the mother of invention.需要是發明之母。
insulting意為「侮辱的」。如:
After receiving the insulting letter, he became furious.他收到辱罵信後怒不可遏。

specific, particular, special都表示「特殊的」，三者的區別在於:
※ specific意為「特殊的;明確的;具有特效的」，強調「具體的;特定的」之意。如:
1) She says she'll come, but I can't nail her down to a specific time.她說她會來，我卻無法讓她說出確切的時間。
2) There is a specific tool for each job.各工種配有特定的工具。
※ particular意為「特別的;獨有的」，強調「與眾不同的」之意。如:
1) There was nothing in the letter of particular importance.這封信裡沒有提什麼特別重要的事。
2) The teacher showed particular concern for the disabled child.老師對那個殘疾兒童給予了特別的關愛。
※ special意為「特別的;專門的」，強調主觀上的特別對待。如:
This is a special case, deserving special treatment.這是個特殊的案例，應該特殊對待。
