This talk will trace the "life" of a very unusual book from the time of its original composition in 15th century Spain until its "discovery" in the twenty-first century and the recovery of its history. In the course of following this life, we will see the meaning that this book--through its material, physical features like its decorations and page designs--held for its various owners, and how a book is much more than merely a conveyor of a text or a platform for words, it has a life in its own right.
