4月19日，是中國二十四節中的「穀雨」，也是聯合國設立的「中文日」。
世界各地越來越多的人開始學習中文。在4月16日直播的《新時代大講堂》中，有一名叫做洪明偉（Max Horne）的美國小夥兒引起了大家的關注。他就讀於哈佛大學，卻說著一口標準流利的中文，一點都不比native差。
小洪12歲開始學習中文，曾多次來中國旅遊和參加各種活動。這次疫情當中，洪明偉也見證了中國和美國相繼暴發疫情的情形。在中國暴發疫情之初，洪明偉就專門拍攝了「加油武漢、加油中國」主題的短視頻來表達他對中國抗疫工作的支持。之後紐約疫情開始暴發，他所在的哈佛大學出現確診病例，紐約成為美國疫情中心，疫情也對他的生活產生巨大影響，但他相信中國的抗「疫」成功經驗讓美國人看到希望。
洪明偉回想起學習中文時、在中國遊歷時的經歷和感悟，結合自己的經歷，他在《新時代大講堂》中這篇感情真摯又理性客觀的優秀演講講述了他對中美兩個家的深厚感情。

Seeing Wuhan’s lockdown conclude and daily life return to an almost-normal rhythm, we New Yorkers are given hope. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and while it may be hard to see here, the restoration of vibrancy and vitality in China give us optimism.
看到武漢解封，日常生活逐漸恢復正常的節奏，我們紐約人有了希望。抗「疫」之戰有一線曙光，雖然現在可能很難看到，但中國恢復了生機和活力，讓我們樂觀起來。
To me, the study of a new language is the study of greater empathy and compassion, and I feel that engagement with China has offered me just that.
對我來說，學習一門新語言，就是學習加深同理共情。我感到與中國的交流正讓我有這樣的收穫。
Filming short, lighthearted videos dwarfs in comparison to the work of medical professionals, but I wanted to show, at a time of growing tension in U.S.-China relations, that countless members of the American public wish to deepen engagement with China through people-to-people exchange and an eye to globalism. We, the Mandarin students, the undergraduates, the travelers, and so many more yearn for a model of the U.S. as an open country, not a nation of isolationist voices.
雖然遠比不上專業醫務人員的工作，但是我想表明，在中美關係日益緊張之際，無數美國人希望加強與中國的聯結，通過民間交流和著眼全球主義。我們這些普通話學習者、大學生、遊客還有更多人，都希望美國是一個開放的國家，而不是一個孤立主義至上的國家。
哈佛大學也在積極與疫情作鬥爭
Most of all, I am grateful to those fighting on the frontlines that allow us to study without hindrance in the safety of our own homes, and I sincerely hope that all members of the Harvard community, including our President Bacow, who have become infected will quickly recover.

我們（哈佛中國論壇）正探索創新的形式，匯集專家研究疫情對醫療、財政和社會的影響。這是一個特殊的時期，創新且突破傳統的渠道對於促進亟需的跨文化交流有愈加重要的意義。我們雖然遠離彼此，但精神上團結一致。

在「加油武漢」的視頻裡，我說「中國是我的第二個家了」。這是我最簡單，最真誠，最重要對疫情情況的想法。
Acting as one family takes many forms: the need for close communication, collaboration, and coordination between the world’s nations is more important than ever. Continued creation of open, accessible information regarding the epidemic worldwide is paramount, as is keeping the public well-informed.
維繫這個大家庭體現在諸多方面，國家之間密切溝通，合作與協調的需求比以往更加重要。持續公開無障礙地發布全球疫情信息至關重要，這也是讓公眾知情的關鍵。
My city is sick, but my love for it is unchanged; my second home was sick, but my affinity for it remained.
我的城市病了，但我對它的愛沒有改變；之前我的第二個家病了，但我與它的緊密聯繫沒有改變。
中國加油！美國加油！世界加油！當我們站在一起的時候，當我們團結一心的時候，沒有任何力量能夠打倒我們。因為我們每一個人有著充滿愛的一顆心，我們一定打贏這場戰役。疫情結束了，中國見！
