國立臺北大學圖書館坐落在臺北新城三峽區，這裡既有當地三峽舊街文化，又有臺灣北部鶯歌區瓷器藝術歷史。
圖書館向來被看做是教育機構的標誌。一般情況下，大多數圖書館都是生硬的混凝土建築，周邊環境嚴格把控，出於安全考慮只安排一個出入口。這確實保證了圖書館安靜的環境和藏書的安全。
但是，設計師設想將圖書館變成自由交流知識流動的開放空間。因此，國立臺北大學圖書館的概念是在空間內創造不同元素之間的互相作用，包括人、書、媒體、建築和環境之間的影響。設計師相信這些元素之間的互相作用可以讓人們獲得比預計更多的知識。設計師希望圖書館這種開放建築是一個可以讓學生輕易獲取信息的開放場所，可以讓學生在精心設計的空間布局內積極分享知識。
設計師取代原有的一幢混凝土建築模式，將建築分成三個部分且各自擁有獨立的入口。設計師將軸線嵌入到項目中將主要出入口與背面的湖連結，將城市街道與圖書館活動大廳相聯繫。
建築包括各種不同的有機功能，比如圖書館、展覽廳、書店、學生中心和咖啡吧。這些功能在圖書館創造了放鬆愉悅的氛圍，增加了人與人之間的社交活動。另外，設計師根據圖書館場地條件設計了浮橋，這些橋連接圖書館的各個部分，學生可以在相對不同的視野下體驗自然。
對於外部設計，設計師希望將圖書館本身的主要元素——書體現出來，作為一個標記。於是，設計師將讀者們將書從架子上拿下來，逐漸將書拉開結合柔軟的織物樣式形成的柔軟優美曲線作為建築的外表面。外表設計結合窗戶將大量自然光帶入圖書館內部，而空間形成的浪漫氛圍，讓讀者們沉浸其中。
設計師在這個項目中努力追求的是將圖書館變得開放，創造愉快的閱讀體驗。人們來這裡不只是看書，他們同時也是與環境和其他人交流。設計師提供的是圖書館的不同構想，將閱讀上升到生活體驗。
這個項目獲得了2008年國立臺北大學圖書館方案競賽的第一名，圖書館已於2014年初建成並對大眾開放。

National Taipei University Library is located in sanxia district, New Taipei City, embracing the local culture of sanxia Old Street and thehistory of porcelain art in Yingge District in northernTaiwan.
A library has always been recognized as anicon for any of educational institutions. Traditionally, most libraries arestiffly built in concrete with strictly controlled environment and singleentrance of security concern. It does achieve the goal of providing the quietspace and the storage for books.
However, we conceived the future library asan open space with free flows of knowledge exchange. Thus, the main concept ofNational Taipei University Library is creating interaction amongst differentcharacters within the space – human, book, media, architecture, andenvironment. We believe that these interactions allow people to gain moreknowledge than we imagine. We expect the library as an open building wherestudents are able to easily access all the information and spaces, alsoactively share their knowledge and experience through a well-designed siteplan.
Instead of building a huge concretearchitecture, we decided to slice it into three parts with organized entrancesof each. The axis was inserted to the program which links the main entrance tothe lake at the back, and the concept of urban street was applied to create aplan of activity mall in the library.
It includes spaces with diverse vitalfunctions such as library, gallery, bookshop, student centre, and cafe. Thiscreates a relaxed and welcoming ambience in the library which actuallyencouraging prosperous social activities to happen between people. Also, weopened up the library to the site condition through a floating bridgeconnecting separated structure that students can experience the nature from arelatively different perspective.
For the exterior design, we like to createa signature which relates to the library itself – book. So we turned theactions of people taking the book out of the shelf and literally opening a bookinto the gentle curves with soft texture as the facade of the building. Itsdesign combining with windows also brings plenty of diagonal nature daylightinto the library that it creates the romantic atmosphere within the space forpeople to indulge in.
What we tried to do in this project isopening up a library and making the pleasant reading experience. People visithere not only for particular purpose, instead, they come here to interact withothers and the environment. We provide a different thinking of the librarywhich extends the idea of reading to a wider concept of life experience.
We were rewarded the first prize of thedesign competition of National Taipei University Library in 2008, and thebuilding is completed and opened to public since early 2014.
