In an effort to raise the efficiency of the flight schedules at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and cut flight delays, the PEK Flight Schedule Optimizing Work Team has recently launched improved flight schedules for Air China Limited (CA) for the autumn and summer flight season.
In the new flight schedules, the total number of CA's flights from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. remains unchanged, but the outbound flights from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. are cut to below 72; inbound flights from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. decrease to below 67, and the number of flights during rush hours from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. is raised to as many as 89. The new schedule is supposed to be more in accordance with the actual operation of the airport.
The new flight schedules have been in trial use since Apr. 15 and will last till Jun. 16, followed by a data evaluation by North China Regional Administration of CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) from Jun. 17 to 28. If the flight punctuality rate is improved as expected by then, the airport will continue to carry out the second phase of the optimization scheme, lasting from Jul. 1 to Oct. 26, when the number of flights during the rush hours will increase to 90, with outbound flights from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. cut to below 56. If not, the former schedules will be resumed.
