英語，不是用中文學的：International students & host family
假若你學英語只有「一次性」的十年八年的時間作為「投資本錢」，你打算怎麼有效「投資」這筆錢？
答案是：英語：不是用中文學的：因為「」學並學好英語，不是「學」英語「記」中文。
如果英語不是用中文來學的，那麼用什麼來學？當然是用英語學，用英語學英語，用英語「懂」英語，用英語「記」英語了。
也許有人說：我連中文意思都不懂，怎麼用英語學？這個給我們繼續用中文學英語的「理由」似乎很充分。但是，大家注意沒有。這是看待如何學英語的一個方面，另外一個方面是：就算有人「懂得」中文意思後依然沒有改成用英語學的習慣和能力。
這才是最要命的：「不懂中文意思」掩蓋了我們一個非常需要訓練的能力，即用英語學英語。
我們看一個例子：
We have many international students at my school. Some of the students are from England. They speak English, but they have a different accent from a Canadian accent.
Many students are from Japan, they're learning our language and our customs. We have students from Germany, Italy, China, Korea and Iran. Some of the international students live with host families. The host families have international students living in their home.
你用中文「懂」英語international student和host family了。你也用中文「懂」Some are from England和The host families have international students living in their home等等英語了。可是，你為什麼依然停留在用中文「懂」international student是「留學生」，用中文「懂」英語「有些學生來自英國」，用中文「接待家庭」「懂」英語host family等等呢？
這就是「用」中文「懂」英語的典型：你學英語，跟用不用中文「懂」有什麼關係？
1.我們應該改成如下「用英語懂」international student：
Okay.I got you.An international student means you're from different countries.For example,you're from England,or you're from Germany.So you're an international student if you're from another country,or a different country.
也就是說，我們必須訓練出用you're from England,or you're from Germany.So you're an international student if you're from another country之類的英語「懂」英語international student的「本事」，而不是用中文「留學生」「懂」英語international student的「本事」。中文是我們的母語說實話，用中文「懂」英語不算什麼「本事」。用英語「懂」才是，因為這樣學困難很大。「記住」英語的困難越大，「本事」才越大。
2.我們用英語「懂」英語a host family：
Okay.I got you.I know what a host family is. The host families have international students living in their home,or staying in their home,called homestay.It's different from living on campus,or staying in hotels.
我在這裡只是隨便舉了個有代表性的例子，實際學習起來情況會複雜一些。但是，有一點是肯定的：「連中文都不懂還叫我怎麼用英語學？」絕對不能成為你拒絕用英語學英語的正當理由，更不能成為你一輩子都是用中文學英語「懂」英語的理由。若然，英語白學了，十年八年白費了。
