In this day and age， a ubiquitous trend could be found in our society that individuals prefer to wear clothes different from their domestic styles. This essay will explore the root cause behind such a trend and reveal a personal attitude towards it.
Traditional clothes are far more challenging to wear compared with western clothes. This is mainly because traditional clothes tend to have more decorations to embody their cultural features, and those decorations are extremely challenging to wear. To be more specific, in some parts of China, individuals are accustomed to putting pieces of jewelry on his/her head as a way to express dignity. This will take up countless time and effort to wear. However, when wearing traditional clothes, individuals can explicitly put them on, saving a lot of time eventually. Therefore, I believe that it is the convenience of wearing modem clothes that accounts for the irreversible trend of wearing western clothes in modem societies.
From my perspective, this trend is both positive and negative. On the one hand, it is positive since this trend symbolizes a trend of seeking freedom of expression. Followers of this trend show his/her bravery to break the traditions, even though they are of possibilities to be criticized by societies. This kind of gut is extremely valuable in today’s society and should be appreciated. On the other hand， always dressing up in western clothes does have the potential of imposing detrimental implications for the inheritance of indigenous cultures. Provided that no one would wear traditional clothes anymore, these clothes are likely to be abandoned and even disappear soon.
In conclusion, I hold the point of view that it is inappropriate for one to completely set aside their traditional clothes and become a follower of a western trend, or vice versa. We can still follow western trends but should not shy away from our traditional clothes. This way we will be following new trends, yet promoting our culture and be very much attached to our roots.
