早在2015年，《紐約時報》就曾刊登了一篇最令人討厭的英文詞和短語榜單，它是由美國LSSU大學公布的。當選的都是年度最易被錯用、濫用、甚至無用的英語詞彙。包括so，conversation，problematic，stakeholder，price point等。今年，LSSU大學又公布了2019年度單詞清單。

2019年度清單包含短語有：
Wheelhouse、In the books、Wrap my head around、Platform、Collusion、OTUS family of acronyms such as POTUS FLOTUS SCOTUS、Ghosting、Yeet、Litigate、Grapple、Eschew、Crusty、optics、Legally drunk 、Thought leader、Imoprtantly、Accoutrements、Most important election of our time。
隨便挑幾個詞看看老外的吐槽：
Totally unnecessary when important is sufficient. More importantly apparently sounds more important but is also senseless.
來自德克薩斯州的Constance吐槽：當要表示「足夠重要」時，這個詞就完全沒有必要了，而more importantly雖然聽起來的意思是更重要，但對事情本身也是毫無意義的。
People use it as an excuse to rant. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter have become platforms. Even athletes call a post-game interview a "platform". Step down from the platform, already.
來自加利福尼亞的Michael吐槽：人們常喜歡用這個詞作為狂歡的藉口，Facebook，Instagram，Twitter都已經成為了平臺，甚至於運動員講賽後訪談也稱為「platform」，這已經完全脫離這個詞的本意了。
另外，在LUSS的號召下，推特網友們也紛紛給出了自己最討厭的詞彙，比如bae（baby的一種寫法）, 動不動就用literally（字面上來說）， whatever（……之類的）, selfie（自拍）,Trump等等。
那麼，除了被廣泛評出來的這些單詞和短語之外，還有沒有外國人特別討厭的單詞或者短語呢？答案是當然有。
讓老外討厭的詞語其實有很多，比如：learnings、solutiion、resources、dovetail、teach、networking、best practice、synergies、engage、transparency...
以下挑幾個比較常見的案例：

吐槽：來自紐約的Mike說，用teach這個詞會立刻讓人聯想到這樣的畫面：一個小學老師站在講臺上喋喋不休地說著一堆大部分人不感興趣的事。那真的太不適合商務溝通了。

Tips：Mike說用分享或者展示意味著你接下來的行動對於聽者來說是有價值的，願意去聽的。
During this session, you willlearn...
吐槽：「學習」是一件需要花時間和精力的事情，而對於做生意的人來講，這兩樣都是極缺的，大家的時間都很寶貴。
如何替換？
During this session, you'll discover...
Tips：「發現」通常是一下子就勾起對方的興趣的詞，並且不用花費很多精力。
比如說：
If you're interested, I can provide additionaldetails.
吐槽：在他們的理念中，「細節」通常是不重要但卻很冗長的事情或者微不足道的，做生意的人時間都很寶貴，為什麼對方還要花時間聽你的「囉嗦」呢？
如何替換？
If you're interested, I can share additional insights...
Tips：「見解」通常是獨一無二且有價值的，誰不想多知道一些有價值的東西呢？
We offer a money-back guarantee...
吐槽：「保證」這個詞這麼多年來一直被大家濫用，以至於現在完全失去了它的可信度。
如何替換？
We will refund your money if...
Tips：「退款」是在客戶不滿意的情況下才會發生的，用這樣明確的說法表示反倒是讓客戶感覺更可信。
除了以上這些常見的還有很多也是在商務來往中，被客戶列入「黑名單」的單詞或短語。

以上這些單詞或短語雖然有些在我們看來很常見，但老外聽到後內心其實是崩潰的。由於文化差異，讓老外「崩潰」的詞語還有很多，不妨積累下來，或者以玩笑的方式詢問外國人，這樣不僅能拉近與對方的距離感，還能讓對方感覺到你的細心與貼心。
