TCL CSOT Acquired the Generation-8.5 Production Line ofSamsung’s Suzhou LCDPlantin a Stock-for-Stock Deal
8月28日，TCL科技宣布，公司將換股收購三星蘇州8.5代線。TCL華星將以10.80億美元收購蘇州三星產線，並獲三星顯示7.39億美元增資，持有TCL華星12.33%股權。在此之前，三星顯示已持有華星11代線子公司5.02%的股權。本次交易將進一步鞏固TCL華星產業鏈垂直一體化的優勢。
TCL Technology announced on August 28 that TCL CSOT would acquire the Generation-8.5 production line of Samsung’s Suzhou LCD Plant for USD 1.08 billion in a stock-for-stock deal. Samsung would invest USD 739 million to gain a 12.33% stake in TCL CSOT. Prior to this deal, Samsung already held a 5.02% stake in the Generation-11 production line of the subsidiary of TCL CSOT. Therefore, this deal will further consolidate the competitive advantages of TCL CSOT in vertical integration.

TCL華星將採用8.5代線生產大尺寸電子紙背板
TCL CSOT will Use the Generation-8.5Production Line to ProduceLarge-size E-Paper Backplanes
8月13日，TCL華星與E Ink元太科技聯合宣布，將合作製造電子紙TFT背板及共同推進大尺寸電子紙廣告牌的市場應用。TCL華星將採用8.5代TFT面板線生產線製造42吋電子紙TFT背板，這是TCL華星、也是全球面板廠首次嘗試以8.5代線生產大尺寸電子紙背板。TCL華星8.5代液晶面板也因此成為目前全球製造電子紙TFT背板最大的世代廠。
On August 13, TCL CSOT and E Ink jointly announced that they would cooperate in the manufacture of e-paper TFT backplanes and in the marketing application of large-size-paper billboards. TCL CSOT will use the Generation-8.5 TFT panel production line to manufacture 42-inch e-paper TFT backplanes. This is the first attempt of TCL CSOT to use the Generation-8.5production line to produce large-size e-paper backplanes. TCL CSOT is also the first panel factory in the world that uses the Generation-8.5 production line to produce large-size e-paper backplanes, for which the Generation-8.5 LCD panel factory of TCL CSOT has become the largest manufacturer of e-paper TFT backplanes in the world.

A few days ago, Samsung launched a number of new products of the Galaxy collection worldwide, including Galaxy Tab S7, which is embedded with a high-end 11-inchincell LCD display independently developed by TCL CSOT. Galaxy Tab S7 is also the only flagship product among the new launches of Samsung that uses a non-self-produced display. It is the first 120Hz incell product and the first low bluelight LCD flat panel display in the world, featuring ultra-narrow bezel design, ultra-high screen-to-body ratio and stunning visual effects.

TCL實業近日公布了2020年半年報。2020年上半年，公司積極應對疫情，打贏防疫戰和經營戰，保持一季度經營基本穩定，並在第二季度實現業績大幅改善。上半年，TCL 實業實現營收 372.5 億元，淨利潤8.51 億元。上半年，TCL品牌電視銷量全球市佔率同比提升3.3個百分點至12.7%，排名由2019年全球第三躍升至2020年第二季度的全球第二。TCL電子網際網路服務業務收入累計達4.7億元，同比增長126.9%。TCL空調品牌外銷業務上半年銷量增長28.2%，外銷ODM銷量同比增長21.8%，外銷品牌業務和ODM業務淨利潤都實現同比增長。
According to the 2020 semi-annual report released by TCL Industries recently, TCL focused on both epidemic prevention and control and business operations in the first half of this year and managed to maintain operational stability basically in the first quarter and improve performance markedly in the second quarter. Specifically,In the first half of 2020, TCL Industries achieved revenue of RMB 37.25 billion and net profit of RMB 851 million, TCL-branded TV sales reached 12.7%, marking a 3.3% year-on-year increase of global market share and ranking from No. 3 in 2019 to No. 2 in the second quarter of 2020 worldwide. Besides, TCL Electronics and Internet Service achieved revenue of RMB 470 million,an increase of 126.9% over the same period of previous year. The export sales of TCL airconditioners increased by 28.2%, and the export ODM sales increased by 21.8% year-on-year. The net profit of both export business and ODM business achieved year-on-year growth.

8月29日，TCL科技公布了2020年上半年財報，財報顯示，TCL科技上半年實現營業收入293.3億元，同比增長12.3%。其中TCL華星實現營業收入195.1億元，增長19.9%。報告期內，TCL華星t1、t2、t6產線滿銷滿產，電視面板市佔率上升至全球前二，55吋電視面板市佔率全球第一，65吋電視面板市佔率居全球第二位，75吋產品份額全球第二。中小尺寸業務LTPS智慧型手機面板出貨量全球第三，柔性AMOLED智慧型手機面板出貨量躍居全球第四。

TCL CSOT, a business unit of TCL Technology, realized an operating income of RMB 19.51 billion, an increase of 19.9%. During the reporting period, the t1, t2 and t6 production lines of TCL CSOT were in full gear and the products sold well. The market share of TV panels rose to No. 2 in the world, 55-inchTV panels No. 1, 65-inch TV panels No.1 and 75-inch TV panels No.2. Besides, shipments of small and medium-sized smartphone LTPS panels ranked third and shipments of flexible AMOLED smartphone panels ranked fourth in the world.

Kevin, CEO of TCL Industries and TCL Electronics, demonstrated the six scenarios of 5G 8K smart display, which adds a new dimension to communications, film and television, social networking, exercise, health and games in the 5G era. As shown in the demonstration, viewers that watch 8K videos online with 5G 8K smart display just need oneclick to play the videos and don’t have to wait for loading. During the launch event, Kevin and the famous basketball player Wang Shi peng also had the first video call via the world’s first 5G 8K smart display. 7月25日，TCL創始人、董事長李東生在TCL2020第二次協商會擴大會議上發表了題為《上坡加油追趕超越邁向全球領先》的重要講話。李董在講話中分析了當前國內外宏觀環境發生的重大變化，對推動「3074」戰略落地以及制定「3085」 戰略規劃工作提出了指導全局的戰略性要求。
Chairman Li delivered an important speech titled To Catch up and Overtake at the expanded meeting of the second TCL 2020 consultation meeting on July 25th. He analyzed the major changes in the domestic and international macro-environment, and put forward guidelines and strategic requirements for the implementation of the 3074 Strategy and the developmentof the 3085 strategy.
