The access routes to a hospital in 2007 and 2010 are shown in the upper and lower maps respectively.
It is clear that the ring road surrounding the hospital itself was largely unchanged between 2007 and 2010. However, the transport infrastructure was considerably upgraded, most notably with the addition of two roundabouts, and the expansion of the car parking and bus facilities.
With regard to the ring road, the only change seen in 2010, compared to 2007, was the construction of a roundabout in the centre of the southern section, in place of the original T-junction with Hospital Road. At the other end of the same road, a further roundabout was built at the location of the crossroads with City Road.
In 2007, the hospital was served by six bus stops on Hospital Road, with three on each side. By 2010, these stops had disappeared and had been replaced by a bus station to the west of Hospital Road, with access to both roundabouts mentioned above.
In 2007, there was only one car park, which stretched the full length of the east side of Hospital Road, with a single access point in the south-east of the ring road. By 2010, this had become a car park for staff only and a further car park for public use only had been constructed, to the right of the eastern section of the ring road.
The chart below shows the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart illustrates how the proportions of households that lived in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales changed from 1918 to 2011.
Before 1971, more households lived in rented accommodation than in owned accommodation. The biggest gap was in 1918, when 77% households rented. The same proportions (68%) of households lived in owned accommodation in 1939 and 1953. In 1961, there were as many as 40% of households in owned accommodation. Finally, the year 1971 witnessed equal proportions of households that lived in both types of accommodation.
On the other hand, there were more households that lived in owned accommodation than in rented accommodation after 1971. In 1991 and 2001, households in owned accommodation more than doubled those in rented accommodation. The difference was less prominent in 1981 and 2001, when about 60% of households lived in owned accommodation.
It is clear that, while there was an increase in the percentage of households in owned accommodation in these two nations, fewer and fewer households rented.
The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart presents data relating to the quantities of electricity (measured in billions of kilowatts per hour) produced and used in 2014 by the ten countries in the world that produce and use the greatest amount of electricity.
It is clear that China and the USA are the biggest producers and users of electricity by far. Except for Germany, all the countries in question produce more electricity than they use, though the differences are generally not large.
China and the USA produced around 5,400 billion kWh and around 4,100 billion kWh of electricity respectively. Further, both nations used only fractionally less than this sum. Russia, Japan and India occupied positions three, four and five in the top ten, with corresponding consumption figures ranging between 1,057 billion and 871 billion with respect to generation and ranging from 1,038 billion to just under 700 billion for usage.
The final five places in the top ten were occupied (in descending order) by Canada, France, Brazil, Germany and the Republic of Korea. The spread of both production and usage figures was approximately 620 billion to around 450 billion. Canada, France and Brazil were notable in that their production quantities were all at least 75 billion higher than their usage figures. In contrast, Germany consumed about 60 billion more than it produced.
1) fractional
Very small; insignificant
fractionally=slightly
2) spread
The extent or limit to which something is or can be spread
The plans below show the layout of a university's sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
這塊區域,叫做 the sports centre building
或者 the main building
stretch along the north side
The upper map shows the plan of a university sports centre as it is now and the lower map shows the same building once it has been redeveloped.
Overall, the existing 25-metre pool and surrounding facilities will remain largely unchanged. However, the building will be substantially expanded by means of the addition of a leisure pool and a range of other new facilities.
Currently, the sports centre building consists only of a 25m pool, related swimming facilities and a gym that stretches along the north side. While the planned new sports centre will occupy around twice the current floorspace, these facilities will remain unchanged except that the gym will be significantly extended to the east.
Either side of the building at present, there are outdoor courts which will make way for a new leisure pool to the west of the main building, and a sports hall and two dance studios to the east. To the south of the 25m pool, the current reception area will be enlarged to accommodate a sports shop and café, on the west and east sides respectively. Finally, new changing rooms will be built in the south-west and south-east corners.
floor space
floor space, or floorspace is the area (measured as square feet or square metres) taken up by a building or part of it 佔地面積
