37. by comparison with與……比較

用法：by comparison with後面加上表示對比事物，與in comparison with同義，都是「和……相比」的意思。

 

例句：China has a lot of traditional cultures by comparison with western countries.

與西文國家相比，中國有很多傳統文化。

 

38. by means of用，依靠

用法：by means of後面要跟表示方法、途徑的名詞或者名詞詞組。

 

例句：Young people are more likely to solve problems by means of violence.

年青人更傾向於用暴力解決問題。

 

39. by the end of直到……為止

用法：by the end of在句中作時間狀語，常跟完成時態連用。

 

例句：By the end of 1992, he lost his company, his career and his house.  (2015年6月四級)

直到1992年底，他失去了他的公司、事業和房子。

 

40. by the name of名為，稱為

用法：by the name of後面要跟表示名詞字的名詞或者名詞詞組，注意與in the name of的區別，後者表示「以……的名義」。

 

例句：The band by the name of Sun is fading.

那個名叫太陽的樂隊漸漸沒落了。
