Karlie GU
The second outbreak of Covid-19 had disturbed many people’s regular plan to get home to meet with their family members. Home was somewhere that carried lots of emotions and feelings. It may not be a large house and may be hundreds of kilometers away, yet many people still fight for getting time to go home for love and laughter.
Home was one of the warmest words in the world for Karlie. She would feel relaxed when arriving at home after a tired working day. Karlie shared many actions that would heal her like preparing for the meals, having a casual talk with her husband, cleaning the house or fiddling with flowers. She would try to finish her work as quickly as possible in business trips to go back home earlier. Sometimes, her mom, dad or her father-in-law spared their time accompanying her in Beijing and brought some hometown food, their cooking would remind her of childhood flavor.
Yet, home sometimes can bring hurts. She still remembered when she was a little girl, her mom and dad quarreled intensely and frequently, and their quarrel always happened on Spring Festival holiday which made this holiday become one of her nightmares. After she grew up and had some experience of intimacy, she gradually realized what her original family brought to her, she wanted to escape yet she had to accept the reality, the process was not easy and painful. Fortunately, she was now on her way to build ideal home with her husband and was also accepting the influence from original family. This self-reconciliation process was very valuable and precious for her.
Question 1: If you could live in anywhere, where is your dream home location?
Ruby chose to live in Beijing. She came here since 2014, and became a teacher here. She shared about her happy life here, she could make more money, meet friends in SWU and others groups, she could also get so much delicious food here. Question 2: What’s your definition of HOME?
Shiling thought home was where her family members living together. She rarely lived with her family after she went to university. She couldn’t go back to live in her home town, because she couldn’t get a good job there. It was just a dream to live with her father and mother. For her, home means her father, mother, the cats and dogs and the streets in her home town.
Strength: Sound relax and confident; The content was very clear.
Suggestion: Could practice more to be more fluent; Could fix the camera.
Question 3: At home, do you think we should keep privacy as well?
Ray agreed that keeping privacy was necessary at home. He shared a room with his brother when he was a child, but he though he needed privacy when he grew up. It was important for everyone to have their secrets, they need a private room to write diary, keep cats, read books alone without speaking to anyone.
Strength: Brave to show up in Table Topics; Answered directly; Good to engage with audience.
Suggestion: Could use direct eye contact.
Question 4: What’s your favorite hometown food?
Fancy’s favorite hometown food was the noodle made by her father. When she was a child, her father used to cook noodle to them when he was at home, but only gave them money to eat outside when he was not. Although her father was not a good cooker, when she looked back to this memory, she felt the noodle was not only food but also love. Recently, due to the policy, she couldn’t go home to celebrate the 80’s birthday with her father, she was so cherished about the time with her father.

Speaker 1: Coco LI
Level 1, Project 2 Evaluation and Feedback 2nd
Title: Find meaning of work
Coco thought her job was boring and didn’t like the job when she started becoming a teacher in an international kindergarten. But she changed her view after she saw how her colleague helped a child to build good behaviors. She met a trouble boy, who was always crying and didn’t have a nap at afternoon. Instead of blaming the boy, her colleague came to the boy when he made a trouble, and explained and helped him to correct his behaviors. After seeing the children becoming politer and nicer, Coco realized the meaning of her job and how it played an important role in children’s life. She changed her attitude and worked hard to be a professional teacher, and found the sense of achievement from her job.
