【譯文】這一群體中仍然包括依賴醫療保障制度的老年中產階級，他們在享受到2006年起實施的新藥改福利之前要投入大量積蓄。
【析句】複合句。主句This group will still include middle-income seniors on Medicare。主句後，who引導定語從句修飾middle-income seniors。而定語從句中，又包含定語從句that starts in 2006修飾the new drug benefit。
2. Buoyed by laws and court decisions, more and more older Americans are declining the retirement dinner in favor of staying on the job-thereby lessening employment and promotion opportunities for younger workers. (2006. 閱讀. 6. Text 3)
【譯文】由於受到法律和法庭裁決的支持，越來越多的美國老年人拒絕退休，選擇繼續工作——因而導致就業率降低，年輕人的晉升機會減少。
【析句】複合句。主句more and more older Americans are decling the retirement dinner in favor of staying on the job。主句前，buoyed by laws and court decisions是過去分詞作原因狀語;主句後，thereby lessening employement...workers則是現在分詞作結果狀語。
3. Senior citizen discounts only enhance the myth that older people can't take care of themselves and need special treatment; and they treaten the creation of a new myth, that the elderly are ungratelyful and taking for themselves at the expense of children and other age groups. (2006. 閱讀. 6. Text 3)
【譯文】老年人折扣只是強化了這種觀念，即老年人不能照顧自己而需要特殊對待;它們也可能會產生另一種新說法，即老年人不知感恩，犧牲子女和其他年齡群的利益以滿足自己的需要。
【析句】複合句。主句由兩個分句組成，前句是Senior citizen discounts only enhance the myth; 後句是and they treaten the creation of a new myth。兩個分句中，the myth後都有that引導的同位語從句，第一個同位語從句是that older people can't take care of themselves and need special treatment, 第二個同位語從句是that the elderly are ungrateful and taking for...，可以看出，兩個同位語從句中都包含兩個並列的謂語動詞。
