途西教育與《留學》雜誌很高興地向大家宣布：我們即將攜手舉辦與留學相關熱點及焦點系列主題講座。所有講座都將在途西教育辦公室裡舉行，《留學》雜誌將邀請教育行業的資深專家擔任每期講座的特邀發言人。講座主題將包括文書寫作、面試及考試準備、學校和籤證申請等！
系列講座一之「美國大學申請介紹」將於9月13日（本周六）拉開序幕。本次講座將由途西本科諮詢團隊總監John Beck和途西本科諮詢顧問Velma Cao擔任主講人。被邀請參加講座的與會者可以更好地了解如何準備申請過程、招生官看重的申請者特質、如何選擇學校等等。作為常春藤盟校的前任招生官, John Beck將以業內人士的視角向大家闡述整個申請過程。此講座還將向大家介紹學校的分類，從而涉及到如何尋找適合自己的學校。

John Beck （白一罕）
本科留學部門總監
白一罕獲達特茅斯學院文學學士學位，專業是政府管理，主修國際關係，輔修環境研究。就讀期間，他是Dickey中心戰爭與和平會員（Dickey Center War and Peace Fellow），並在洛克菲勒公共政策中心擔任高級領導。白一罕曾任達特茅斯招生辦公室高級助理主任，負責美國學生和國際學生（中東和南亞）的招生和甄選，也曾去印度、中 國東南亞出差。在達特茅斯最後一年，他擔任國際招生經理，監管達特茅斯全部國際申請人的甄選流程。加入
途西之前，白一罕在國外徒步旅行六個月，去過緬甸、寮國和柬埔寨等國家。

John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with a focus on International Relations and a minor in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College. At Dartmouth, he was a Dickey Center War and Peace Fellow and a Senior Leadership Fellow at the Rockefeller Center of Public Policy. John worked as a Senior Assistant Director at the Dartmouth Admissions Office, where he was responsible for both U.S. and international (Middle East and South Asia) recruitment and selection, which included travel to India, China, and Southeast Asia. In his final year with Dartmouth, John served as the International Recruitment Manager, overseeing the selection process for all of Dartmouth’s international applicants.
Prior to joining Due West, John spent 6 months backpacking abroad, including in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.
John serves as Director of the Due West College Counseling Team and is based in Beijing
Velma Cao (曹文怡)
顧問

Velma is a proud alumna of Hangzhou Foreign Languages School. As a student there, she frequented school English festivals as an MC, a contestant and an ardent supporter. She also co-founded the school’s first non-profit with her classmates – an organization aimed at increasing awareness of endangered communities and animals. After graduating from HFLS, she was granted admission to Zhejiang University prior to the college entrance exam, where she went on to acquire her Bachelor's degree in Sociology. While in university, she explored theatre, English debate and many other things – experiences which she continues to benefit from today. After graduating, she went to the University of Chicago for an M.A. degree with a concentration in Political Theory. Deeply immersed in Hyde Park's intellectual environment, she learned about western political thought, theology and ancient Roman history, while also making espresso drinks for UChicago's thinkers in Regenstein's ExLibris coffee shop and working in the most prestigious academic bookshop in the world – 「the Seminary CoOp.」
Prior to joining Due West, Velma also taught in a middle school in Hangzhou and coached the school’s Model UN team.
Velma serves as a Counselor on the Due West College Counseling Team and is based in Beijing.

Due West Education and Studying Abroad Magazine: Presentation Series Kicking-Off this Saturday!
Due West Education, in partnership with Studying Abroad (LiuXue) Magazine, is excited to announce an upcoming presentation series about studying abroad in the United States. All sessions will be hosted at the Due West office, with guest speakers – all experienced experts in the education industry – invited by Studying Abroad Magazine. Topics covered will include essay writing, interview and test preparation, school and visa applications, and more!
The series will begin this Saturday, September 13th, with the first presentation 「Introduction to U.S. College Applications」 given by Velma Cao, Due West Undergraduate Counselor, and John Beck, Due West Director of College Counseling. Participants are invited to the lecture to learn about how to prepare for the application process, what admissions officers look for in applicants, tips on how to select schools, and more. As a former Ivy League admissions officer, John will provide you with an insider’s perspective of the admissions process. The presentation will also cover how to search for appropriate colleges by explaining school typologies.
