如果你已經知道如何區分 allude 和 elude，那麼就差不多能區分 allusion 和 illusion了。跟同詞根的 adopted 和 adoptive 的區別類似，allude 和 allusion 是同詞根的單詞。
一、allusion 是的詞根是 allude，作名詞，所以它的意思很顯然，意為「間接提到；暗指；影射；典故"，例如：
His consistent allusions to being so poor as a child are not in keeping with his brother's version of their childhood.
他一貫暗示自己小時候很窮，這與他哥哥對他們童年的描述不符。
The film is full of allusions to Hitchcock.
這部電影充滿了對希區柯克的影射。
Her novels are packed with literary allusions.
她的小說裡充滿了文學典故。
二、illusion 作名詞
1、意為」錯誤的觀念；幻想「，例如：
He had no illusions about his talents as a singer.
他對自己作為一名歌手的才華沒有幻想。
I'm under no illusions about the man I married.
我對我結婚的那個男人沒有任何幻想。
My boss is laboring under the illusion that the project will be completed on time.
我的老闆誤以為這項工程會按時完成，這是一種錯覺。
2、意為」幻想的事物；錯覺「，例如：
A large mirror in a room can create the illusion of space.
房間裡的一面大鏡子可以創造出空間的錯覺。
The impression of calm in the office is just an illusion.
辦公室裡那種平靜的印象只是一種錯覺。
三、推薦的區分方法
之前的文章提過，因為 allude 中有兩個字母「l」，感覺遮遮掩掩的，所以 allude 是暗指的意思，那麼它的同根名詞 allusion 就是這個意思，剩下的 illusion 就是」幻覺「的意思。
這樣一條記憶鏈條就形成了：elude-allude->allusion->illusion，記住其中一個就可以聯想到其他幾個。
