the other day ≠ 另一天
那麼 the other day 到底是什麼意思呢？一起來學習一下相關表達吧！
the other day 並不是「另一天」的意思， 它類似於 a short time ago 、 recently ， 所表達的是「不久前；前幾天」。
而「另一天」的正確表達應該是 another day ✔️，可千萬不要再說錯啦
- I forgot to tell you that I got a postcard from Mary the other day.
- 我忘了告訴你，前幾天我收到Mary寄來的一張明信片。
some day 從字面上看是「有些日子」 的意思，但除了這個它另有深意。它其實是表達「總有一天；在未來某個不確定的日子」。

- 總有一天你會意識到你的父母有多好。
之前的文章裡老師有講解過 "Oh my god!" 在國外一些地方不能隨便說，為什麼呢？因為對於虔誠的宗教信徒來說，"God" 是非常神聖的，不能任你隨意呼喚。而且 "Oh my god!" 只在特別震驚的時候用，如果有事沒事就說一句人家會覺得你戲很多誒 那這時候 "great day" 就派上用場了，看起來跟日子有關係，其實它是用來表達驚訝的「我的天呀」。

- 我的天啊！沒想到能在這裡見到你。
black day 指的是「倒黴的一天；兇日」。同理，white day 也不是「白天」，而是「白色情人節；良辰吉日」的意思。如果想正確表達「黑夜」你可以說 "by night"，白天的話是 by day 或者 daytime ✔️。
- It was a black day for this area when the local factory closed down.
- 當地的工廠倒閉了，對這個地區來說是不幸的一天。
