英語中關於建造的詞較多，但用法不盡相同，今天與在家分享一下這方面的知識。
首先看一道選擇題：
The school was ( ) in 1920 and its teaching building was ( ) in 1923.
A. put up, set up B. set up, put up C.set up, founded D. set up, build up
這道題的答案是 B. 有些同學會問，選項D不是也可以嗎？其實不可以。
Build up 詞組確實有建造的意思，但是它不可與building 連用。
那麼這個詞組怎麼用呢？這個詞組可用於district，area等連用。
例1. The new district is being built up now.
新街區正在建造中。
Put up 詞組除了有「舉起來」意思之外，也有「蓋（房子）」的意思。
例2. These were buildings put up in 1930s.
這些是二十世紀三十年代建築。
例3. They have put up some new houses there.
他們已經在那裡蓋了新的房子。
而set up 詞組不可指建造房子、建築物等，但它也有與之近似的意思。
例4. The government set up a special fund in 2000.
2000年政府設置了一項特別基金。
例5. The two sides agreed to set up a commission to investigate claims.
雙方同意成立一個委員會，調查索賠問題。
Found 是成立的意思，如機構、組織、學院、公司等，含有提供必要的資金的意思。
例6. The Free-loan Society was founded in 1967.
這個無息貸款協會成立於1967年。
例7. The town was founded in 1800.
該城鎮興建於1800年。
