大雪節氣是幹支歷子月的起始，標誌著仲冬時節正式開始，它的到來，意味著天氣越來越冷，白晝也將更短。
值得注意的是，大雪節氣是一個氣候概念，與天氣大雪意義不同，它代表的是大雪節氣期間的氣候特徵，此時，氣溫將顯著下降，雪往往下得更大、範圍更廣。

大雪時節，民間有俗語「吃吃喝喝賞封河」，北方是一幅「千裡冰封，萬裡雪飄」的圖景，南方則家家戶戶忙著醃製臘肉。這些關於大雪的習俗，請一定講給孩子聽：

「小雪醃菜，大雪醃肉」。大雪節氣一到，家家戶戶忙著醃製「鹹貨」。將大鹽加八角、桂皮、花椒、白糖等入鍋炒熟，塗抹在魚、肉和光禽內外，反覆揉搓，晾乾，一層層碼在缸內，倒入鹽滷，再壓上大石頭，十日後取出，掛在朝陽的屋簷下晾曬乾，以迎接新年。

✦ 創作步驟：
1.用水粉顏料在紙卡上畫出火鍋鍋底。
2.用膚色和黃色的超輕土製作玉米段；用褐色和白色的超輕土製作香菇；用紅色和白色的超輕土製作肥牛卷；用綠色和白色超輕土製作小白菜。
3.將製作好的配菜拼擺在畫好的火鍋底上。
用水粉筆敲打白色水粉顏料在火鍋上表現沸騰的湯汁。
4.熱騰騰的火鍋就完成了。
