1. lack, 及物動詞, 後面直接加賓語

He lacks self-discipline to be a success.他缺乏做成功人的自律。

Amy’s real problem is that he lacks confidence. Amy的真正問題是缺乏信心。


2. lack,也做不及物動詞,
 用法是be lacking in+賓語 

He is lacking in money.他缺錢。

We are not lacking in money but lacking in ideas. 我們不缺錢而是缺想法。

3.  lack,做不及物動詞, 有個固定用法 not lack for... （非正式語體）

He does not lack for critics.挑他毛病的人很多。

I never lack for confidence.我從不缺自信。


做名詞：
3. a lack of,一般泛指的時候用,缺乏;

There is a lack of information.缺乏信息。

Too many teachers are treated with a lack of respect.太多老師得不到尊重。

4. lack of,一般前面都會有限定詞的,(有些固定搭配,前面不用a,如lack of water.）


He can not buy it because of (his) lack of money.他因缺錢買不起這個;

(Habitual) lack of care.習慣性的缺乏關心;

Some tours are cancelled for (the) lack of bookings有些旅遊因預訂人數不夠而取消。

5.  there is no lack of ... 固定用法，表示「不缺少...」

There is no lack of funds but good projects.不缺資金而是缺好的項目。

He said there was no lack of things for them to talk about.他說他們不缺話題談。


注意：動詞 lack 後面不要用in或of:
We lack ideas 我們沒有主意。( 不說 We lack in/of ideas.)
但是你可以用be lacking in，not lack for,  a lack of，lack of 等用法。
