一、 用於believe in sb [sth ]，表示相信或信任某人或某物，共有以下四種用法：
信仰。如：
He believes in God.
他信仰上帝。
相信……的存在。如：
Do you believe in ghosts?
你相信有鬼嗎?
信任，信賴。如：
Nobody believes in him. 沒有人信任他。
比較：I can believe him, but I cannot believe in him.
我相信他說的話是真的，但是不相信他的為人。
相信……的真實性。如：
Do you believe in everything the Bible says?
你相信《聖經》中的每句話?
二、 用於believe in doing sth ， 表示相信做某事有好處。如：
He believes in getting plenty of exercise.
他相信多做運動必有好處。
They believe in letting children make their own mistakes.
他們相信讓孩子們自己出錯有好處。
