7.身體的各部分
典型錯誤：* She had blood in her forehead
涉及身體的表面時，在大多數情況下用on。
She had blood on her forehead.她的前額有血。
kissed her on both cheeks.我吻了吻她的雙。
涉及身體表面較軟或較「空」的部位時，用in。試比較：
I hit him on the jaw/ear/ shoulder/nose/neck.我打了他的下巴/耳朵/肩膀/鼻子/脖子。
I hit him in the eye/ mouth/ribs/ stomach.我打了他的眼睛/嘴巴/肋條骨/肚子。
表示打在某人的臉上，要說 hit somebody in the face，但在說面部表情的時候，一般用on。
There was an expression of low cunning on his face。他的臉上顯出陰險狡猾的樣子。
在談到創傷的時候，一般用in。在談到身體內部的部位時，一般也用in，這是不言而喻的。
He was wounded in the shoulder.他的肩膀受了傷。
I've got a pain in my head.我的頭有點兒疼。
8.空通工具
在談到公共運輸的時候（在談到馬摩託車和自行車的時候當然也是一樣），可以用on（或者on to）和off。在其它場合（例如小汽車出汽車，卡車小船私人飛機），通常用in，into，out和out of。
You'd better get on the next plane to Berlin.你最好搭下一班飛機去柏林。
He was arrested as he got off the train.他一下火車就被逮捕了。
I saw Gloria in a new Mercedes yesterday.我昨天看見格勞利亞坐著一輛新的梅塞迪斯牌小汽車。
The taxi stopped and a beautiful girl got out.出租汽車停住，一個漂亮姑始下了車.
請注意：在上述例子中，不能用go來代替get。
此外，還請注意下列常用詞組 by car乘小汽車， by train乘火車， by plane乘飛機等(不用冠詞，也不能說*with car或*in car等)以及on foot步行（不能說*by foot）。
9.地址
門牌用at：
She lives at number73.她住在73號。
在英國英語中，談到街名的時候用in，但美國人卻用on：
She lives in Hazel Avenue.(英國說法)她住在哈澤爾大街。
She lives on Hazel Avenue.(美國說法)如果既有門牌又有街名，只需要用at：
She lives at 73 Hazel Avenue她住在哈澤爾大73號。
在談到樓層(說明某人住在幾層)的時候，用on。
I live on the third floor.我住在四層。
請注意：關於樓層的叫法，英國英語與美國英語不同：

10.at（目標）
at可以與若干動詞連用以表示某種攻擊的目標。最常見的有 shoot at向……開槍， throw…at把…向…扔去，shout at對……喊叫， laugh at嘲笑。（在沒有攻擊的意思時，也可以用 throw…to和shout to。）
我們也可以說 smile at（嘲笑)和 arrive at(到達)；但決不能說*arrive to。
11. at the side of等等
at通常用來表示某一點的位置，但也可用於 at the side of和at the edge of這兩個詞組。
I parked my car at the side of the road.我把車停在了路邊。
Britain used to be at the edge of the known world.當時英國處於人們所知道的這個世界的邊緣。
在這兩個詞組裡，也可以用on。尤其是在美國英語中，以及在談到陡峭地方的邊緣時，都可以用on(例如 on the edge of a cliff在懸崖的邊緣)。
12 at church,, in hospital,等等
有些固定詞組，不用冠詞，可以用來表示按正常用途使用的某些場所。這些詞組，有的用at，有的用in。用不同的介詞，並沒有什麼特殊的原因，因此需要逐個地掌握這些詞組。其中最常見的有：
in bed睡覺， in hospital住院， In prison蹲監獄， In court出庭，in church/ at church做禮拜， at home在家中， at school上學，at work在工作， at university上大學， at college上大學(在美國英語中，可以說 in school，In university， in college)
