在網上對期刊進行投稿時,一般需要附上一封信件(cover letter)。
Cover letter 是總結性的介紹,常用於出國申請、申請工作或學位以及期刊投稿等活動。
而在期刊投稿中,cover letter 是與編輯直接對話的最好機會,可能編輯不會很仔細地看你的論文,但一定會看 cover letter。
各個期刊對 cover letter 的具體要求可能不一樣,可以參照「guide for authors」,如果沒有具體要求,可以按通用要求處理:
Cover letter 的主要內容:
1、論文的基本信息(題目、所有作者的聯繫方式)
2、論文的主要研究發現。
3、論文可能具有的意義。
4、作者推薦的同行審稿人,
5、作者希望避免的同行審稿人
6、已經閱讀論文的專家

示例一:
Dear editors,
On behalf of my co-authors, I am submitting the enclosed material "title" for possible publication in journal.
Your brief introduction of the paper(50-70 words).
We certify that we have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for the appropriateness of the experimental design and method, and the collection, analysis and interpretation of the data. We have reviewed the final version of the manuscript and approve it for publication. To the best of our knowledge and belief, this manuscript has not been published in whole or in part nor is it being considered for publication elsewhere.
