1．transport n. &vt. 運送；運輸
transport sb./sth. to...把……運到……
means of transport交通工具
public transport公共運輸
(1) You will be transportedto the resort by coach.遊覽車將把你們送到度假勝地。

2．prefer vt. 更喜歡
preference n. 偏愛
prefer sth. 更喜歡某事物
prefer to do /doing sth. 更喜歡做某事
prefer (doing) sth. to (doing) sth.
＝prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.
寧願做……而不做……/相比……更喜歡做……
prefer sb. to do sth. 寧願某人做某事
＝prefer that sb. (should) do sth.
(1)I prefer to walk(＝walking) there.我寧願步行去那兒。
(2)He said he preferredthe country to the city.
他說城市和鄉村相比，他更喜歡鄉村。
(3)She prefers dancingto singing.
跳舞和唱歌相比，她更喜歡跳舞。
(4)Thesoldier preferred to die rather than give in.這位戰士寧死不屈。
(5)I'd prefer you not to gothere alone.
我倒希望你不要單獨去那兒。

提示：1.prefer 是「更喜歡」的意思，即 likebetter, 因此 prefer 不能再與 better, more 等比較級詞語連用。
prefer 的過去式、過去分詞、現在分詞要雙寫字母r，然後加－ed或－ing。
3．persuade vt. 勸說；說服
persuasion n. 說服；信服；信念
persuasive adj. 有說服力的；令人信服的
persuade sb. to do sth.＝persuadesb. into doing sth.
說服某人做某事
persuade sb. not to do sth.＝persuadesb. out of doing sth.
說服某人不做某事
try to persuade sb. to do sth.＝advisesb. to do sth.
盡力勸說某人做某事(但未必勸服)
persuade sb. of sth. 使某人相信……
persuade sb.＋that 從句 使某人相信……
(1)I have never persuaded him into taking
others'advice.我從沒說服過他聽從別人的勸告。
(2)She tried to persuade him to change his mind.
她試圖勸他改變主意。
(3)How can I persuade you ofmy sincerity?
＝How can I persuade you that I am sincere?
我怎樣才能使你相信我的誠意呢？
比較：persuade/advise
(1)advise 表示「勸告」的動作，不看結果，而persuade 強調「已經說服」； advise 可接動詞的－ing 形式做賓語，也可接 that 引導的賓語從句(必須用虛擬語氣 「should＋動詞原形」)，而persuade 不能。
(2)persuade 還有「使人相信」的意思，搭配persuade sb. of sth. 和 that 從句，而 advise 無此用法。

動詞短語)

表示時間段的狀語連用)

determine that/be determined that... 決心/定做某事
(1)Income determinesone's standard of living.
收入決定一個人的生活水平。
(2)I have determined on/upongoing to the countryside after graduation. 我已決定畢業後到農村去。
(3)He firmly determined torise in the world whatever it took.他下定決心無論如何都要出人頭地。
(4)She determined that she wouldnever see
him again.
她下決心再也不要見到他。
(5)We are determined tocatch up with them in a month.我們下定決心一個月內趕上他們。
(6)The teacher's encouraging words
determined him to work hard.
老師鼓舞的話使他決心努力學習。
5．attitude n. 態度；看法
(1)What's your attitude tothe plan?
你對此計劃看法如何？
(2)It's not his work that bothers me; it's his attitude.
困擾我的不是他的工作，而是他的態度。
提示：attitude 「態度；看法」，常與介詞to/towards 連用。have a．..attitudeto/towards... 「對……有……的態度」。
