Increasing numbers of the nation’s largest employers are offering gift cards and other incentives to encourage workers to slim down and quit smoking, a survey found.
有調查顯示，越來越多的美國大公司在為員工發放代金卡或者提供其他獎勵，以鼓勵他們減肥和戒菸。
The value of incentives is typically $100 to $300 per person, per year. Incentives were paid out in gift cards, cash bonuses and premium reductions and were used to help "shape healthy behavior".
每人每年得到的激勵獎金在100到300美元之間。這些激勵獎金會以代金卡、現金獎勵以及折抵保費等形式兌現，此舉旨在幫助「塑造健康的行為」。
上述報導中，gift card指的就是「代金卡」，可以在指定地點消費卡內所存金額。有類似功能的還有」代金券「，gift voucher。
cash bonus是「現金獎勵」，大家都知道bonus是「獎金，紅利」的意思；而premium reduction則是「折抵保費」的意思，員工各類保險的保費都要從每月薪水中扣除，這裡的「折抵保費」應該是相當於公司為員工繳付需要個人繳納的那部分保費作為獎勵的意思吧。
