結果可能是期望獲得優質教育的窮人的福音。培生公平教育基金（PearsonAffordable Learning Fund，PALF）是培生集團在探索教育的平價模式方面的積極嘗試。培生公平教育基金（PALF）成立於2012年7月，由培生集團注資1,500萬美元作為初始資本。PALF主要支持發展中國家通過技術創新幫助低收入社區教育發展的公司，以滿足當地居民（主要是非洲、亞洲和拉丁美洲）迅速增長的對優質價廉的教育服務的需求。今年1月份，培生集團為PALF再次注資5000萬美元，希望利用新增的這部分投資，使受益學生和年輕人群數量在2020年之前再增加數百萬。一個有趣的現象是，目前PALF所投資的教育企業中，半數以上是由女性擔任執行長。
那麼，PALF在過去三年裡都投資了哪些教育初創企業？這些企業為何能受到PALF的青睞，以及它們目前發展得都怎麼樣？為了幫助大家解答這些疑惑，這次光合空間和清華x-lab一起邀請到PALF的投資經理，來和大家聊聊PALF是如何幫助窮人獲得優質教育的。
主講人介紹
Yiming Ma——PALF 非洲、亞太區投資經理
Yiming Ma領導培生公平教育基金的非洲及亞太區投資業務，為南非、坦尚尼亞、加納和印度的公司提供戰略管理諮詢服務。其為培生教育集團的全球策略、效能、研究和創新議程擔任顧問，同時多次在高層政策研討，以及與基金會、NGO、政府和捐贈機構的圓桌會議中作為發言人或撰稿人。此外，Yiming是南非SPARK學校董事會裡的Pearson集團代表，這個學校是一家以低廉學費提供優質教育的私立學校。
加入培生之前，Yiming畢業於Richard Ivey School of Business（毅偉商學院），在紐約高盛公司從事投資業務，也曾在麥肯錫從事諮詢。

AffordableModels in Education—What Works for Reaching the Poor

Asone of the world’s leading education companies, Pearson holds firmly to theconviction that private enterprise can be a powerful force in bringing qualityeducation to all children. In 2012, Pearson founded PALF (Pearson AffordableLearning Fund) with a capital of $15 million; PALF is a for-profit venture fundthat seeks to make education cost effective, profitable and scalable for everychild. Over the past three years, PALF has invested in ten companies and servedover 125,000 children in South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, India,and the Philippines.Women serve as CEO in over half of PALF’s companyportfolio. In January 2015, Pearson announced an additional investment of $50million into PALF over the next three years, bringing total assets undermanagement to $80 million. About Yiming MA
Investment Manager, Africa and Interim Asia Pacific
Yiming Ma leads African and AsianPacific investments for the Pearson Affordable Learning Fund (PALF). In hisrole, he provides strategic management advice to companies across South Africa,Tanzania, Ghana and India. Yiming is also an active advisor on Pearson's globalstrategy, efficacy, research and innovation agenda as well as a frequentspeaker/contributor to high level policy discussions and roundtables withfoundations, NGOs, governments and donor agencies. Yiming also representsPearson on the board of SPARK Schools, a for-profit network of high qualitylow-fee private schools in South Africa.
Previously, Yiming was a consultantin McKinsey and Company's Corporate Finance and Strategy practice in New York.He has also worked at Goldman Sachs Investment Partners in New York andgraduated with high distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
