我們在說錯話的時候會經常對別人說：
「對不起，我不是有意冒犯你的！」
這個「冒犯」到底該如何說呢？
來聽今天的講解：
offend
1. 冒犯; 使人不安
例：
He apologizes for his comments and says he had no intention of offending the community.
他為自己的評論道歉，並且說他無意冒犯那個團體。
In the great effort not to offend, we end up saying nothing.
為了儘量不冒犯人，我們最終什麼也沒說。
2. offended 被冒犯了的
例：
She is terribly offended, angered and hurt by this.
她被此深深地觸犯、觸怒並傷害了。
3. 犯罪 （正式）
例：
In Western countries girls are far less likely to offend than boys.
在西方國家，女孩們遠不像男孩們那樣容易犯罪。
offensive
1. 冒犯性的
例：
Some friends of his found the play horribly offensive.
他的一些朋友覺得那部戲讓人很不舒服。
2. (軍事) 進攻
例：
Its latest military offensive against rebel forces is aimed at re-opening important trade routes.
其最近對叛軍的軍事進攻旨在重新開闢重要的貿易路線。
3. 強硬行動
例：
Republicans acknowledged that they had little choice but to mount an all-out offensive on the Democratic nominee.
共和黨人承認他們別無選擇，只有對民主黨提名人全力發起一場強硬行動。
4. 採取攻勢
例：
The rebel forces went on the offensive in response to attacks on them.
西非武裝力量發起進攻以回應襲擊。
