This year’s 10th typhoon Haitang has been weakened as tropical depression at night on July 31. The National Meteorological Center has stopped to number it in this morning. But influenced by it, strong rainstorm wreaked havoc on eastern Fujian and southern Zhejiang. The precipitation of Ningde, Fujian and Wenzhou, Zhejiang were all over 400mm while maximum precipitation in Fuzhou, Fujian reached 532mm.

From August 1 to 4, the National Meteorological Center forecasts that the tropical depression will continue to move towards north and combine with westerly trough, then bring severe precipitation for more than 10 provinces (cities) of eastern China. 

The National Meteorological Center issued blue warning of rainstorm at 6:00 a.m. on August 1. From August 1 to 2, heavy rain or rainstorm will hit northern and eastern coast of Fujian, northeastern Jiangxi, western Zhejiang, southern and western Anhui, eastern Hubei, eastern Henan, southwestern Shandong, southern Hebei, central Heilongjiang, southeastern Yunnan, southern Guangxi, eastern coast of Guangdong and southern Gansu. Northern Fujian, southern Zhejiang and northern Henan will get extreme rainstorm. On August 2 and 3, severe rain will affect Northeast China, northeastern and southern  Hebei, western and central Shandong with severe convective weather such as short-term severe precipitation, thunderstorm, gale.

On 8:30 a.m. of August 1, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) activated a level four emergency response to rainstorm. It is required that the relevant meteorological sectors attached to CMA enter the emergency position immediately and put corresponding meteorological services in place. The potential affected areas such as Anhui, Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Liaoning and Jilin are expected to sustain or adjust the emergency state according to local realities (Aug.1)
