在開始講解這個語法結構之前，我們先來看一下網上的一個網友提的問題：
問：The better friendsyou're, the more probably you'll have disagreements.兩個句子怎麼可以連用?the more 是什麼成份?
咋一看，什麼鬼意思，讀都讀不順，這句子有毛病吧。但是同學們，不用緊張，萬般皆有法。
第一步，先分析句子結構：Thebetter …, the more probably …，這不就是「 the + 比較級，the + 比較級」這個結構嗎？
第二步，還原句子：you're （the） better friends, you'll（the）more probably have disagreements.意思就是你們的關係越好，就越容易產生分歧。
打完收工，是不是很簡單。
接下來，我們就剖析一下進入正題。
the + 比較級,the + 比較級
這個結構常用於主謂倒裝句中，表示「越。。。，就越。。。」，第一個the + 比較級引導的是從句，第二個the + 比較級引導的是主句。常見的就是「the more … ,the more…」
the more, the more用法原則：
1、the more名詞必須使用冠詞或所有格。
很多人不太理解這個什麼意思，其實網上的說法沒有錯，只是比較籠統，所以導致誤解。themore名詞必須使用冠詞指的是當這個名詞做主語的時候，必須要加冠詞或名詞所有格
例：
The more people youknow, the less time you have to see them. = You know the more people,you have the less time to see them.
你認識的人越多，見他們的時間就越少。
這裡的people和time不是作主語，不表示特指，所以不用加冠詞。
The longer the war lasts,the more the people there will suffer. = The war lasts the longer,the people there will suffer the more. 戰爭持續得越久,那裡的人們受難就越多。
這裡的war和the people是作主語，表示特指，所以用加冠詞。
2、當後面的謂語是be動詞的時候, 可以省略, 可以省略, 特別是當主謂語為itis時, 常同時省略。
例：
The sooner, the better. = The sooner it is, the better it is.
越早越好。
The more haste, the less speed. = The more haste it is, the less speed it is.欲速則不達。

順便提一下，在比較級中much和more的區別如下：
much可以修飾比較級（以及最高級），而more則不能。
much加比較級起修飾作用，是獨立於比較級的（可有可無），且可以修飾more
more一般是和一些長字節的單詞一起構成比較級,是比較級的一部分，不能省略
例：
After months of anaerobic exercise,Annie became more beautiful.
= After months of anaerobicexercise, Annie became much more beautiful.
經過幾個月的鍛鍊之後，安妮變得更加漂亮了。
