雅思口語新題 | part2/3:Describe a volunteering experience you have had

Well, I want to talk about a time when I volunteered to teach Chinese in an underdeveloped area(欠發達地區) in my sophomore year（大二那年）. That experience was so inspiring and educational that I can still remember it clearly.

I remember it was last semester that I saw a notice to recruit college students to be teachers in zhanjiang. I thought it was a good chance for me to increase my social experience（增加社會經驗） and can devote myself to the society. So I signed up, passed the interview and took part in a team with 30 people, and we were heading to a small village in zhanjiang to teach primary schoolers, for over two weeks.

100 students were divided into 3 classes and we taught them 6 subjects including Chinese, English, maths, science, arts and PE. On the first day, we got to know our students and knew most of their parents work in another city faraway and can only go back twice a year, some behaved well while others were bad boys. After finishing teaching for a whole day, we would have a meeting on how to modify the class and lead students into the right path(帶學生步入正道). Gradually we were getting more familiar and they would play basketball, take us to their secret corner and share stories with us, which were very comforting and rewarding for me. They were lovely and considerate at heart(內心) even when they didn’t show it. I built up strong bonding（建立強聯繫） with them and did learn how to care about children and how to educate in this process.
